Almost verbatim, unbelievable

This is the face of failed Democratic strategy. WE NEED BETTER DEMOCRATS.

You cannot go about your life thinking about ways to avoid making fascists angry. You will not succeed, and you will not be free.

Hit Nazi scum hollers

To evaluate Terry Moran’s comment that Stephen Miller is “richly endowed with the capacity for hatred,” I recommend this oral history of his time at Santa Monica High School. lamag.com/politics/ste...

What sucks about discussing politics is that every political issue is so unserious. "Should people have healthcare?" Is a question a toddler would ask another toddler

tom nichols should be studied in a lab so the sheer fucking audacity compounds he produces can be isolated and described by modern science

One side is an unlawfully masked, unbadged secret police rounding and arresting law-abiding essential workers to prop up a fascist regime The other side is citizens resisting an unjust government, just as MLK taught us to do. I am 100% on the side of the American people against ICE. Who's with me?

Don't think of a nazi

“Motivated by love of country” nah Stephen Miller has been on the record as being motivated by hate since he was literally in high school.

Yes. Shorter: “The problem of our time is oligarchs learning to use modern media to influence public opinion, and thus corrupt democracies from the inside.” (me, since 2018)

Would encourage everyone trying to draw the parallels between Terry Moran's deleted tweet and Ed Murrow actually watch the Ed Murrow broadcast on Joe McCarthy -- www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMgo...

All of the talk about "peaceful protest" makes me think of all the times I have been part of a protest where the police cracked someone over the head and then charged that person with assault. They will call you violent. You can't control that or other people.

Greetings from Houston. "It doesn’t make any sense. These are the people that were brought to the U.S. by the U.S. armed forces. They did not come to the U.S. illegally. They did not go across Mexico and then try to enter the United States. So, why attack this group? It's simply inexplicable."

Parents and teachers in southern California are urgently asking for help to find a fourth grader who is being “held captive” by immigration authorities in Texas.

Trump's biggest inaugural donors are already reaping their rewards: -Pilgrim's Pride ($5M) could benefit from deregulation of meat safety standards -Ripple ($4.9M) closed its SEC legal battle -Billionaire Warren Stephens ($4M) became UK Ambassador Everything is for sale.

Would probably be a good idea if California @agrobbonta.oag.ca.gov did a quick video statement describing the legality/illegality of what is happening and the legal basis for the position the Gov. intends to take. Better than letting confusion build and folks hashing it out on social media.

In an hour, I will be leaving my gym in Hollywood to head to an early Father’s Day brunch with my dad in Manhattan Beach. This trip will take me through Chinatown, DTLA, and right past Compton. I will encounter no resistance, no rioters, nothing - because nothing is happening in LA right now.

San Francisco and North Dakota have roughly the same population size but North Dakota had around twice as many COVID deaths

Don't let Trump and Musk's feud obscure their fundamental agreement: Both men and the party they own are committed to taking as much as possible from Americans who need help in order to give to those who have more than they could ever want www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...

Thread. Our current group of liberal elites took the lessons of successful non-violent social movements and interpreted them into the "hitting is always wrong" lecture you give your 5 year old.

My dad, who has lived under a dictatorship, knows one when he sees one. His first text this morning is that we are now officially in a dictatorship. It is all pretty grim.

Sethy Seam, who was 16 when sentenced to life without parole, received clemency last year, and left prison in January after 27 years: “A lot of kids had hard lives. They did 25 years in prison, and now they’re a whole lot different. They need hope, too.” boltsmag.org/north-c...

Ezra Klein's theory of Democratic political failures seems badly misplaced www.nytimes.com/2025/06/08/o...

ICE tear gassed people who were stuck in their vehicles because ICE blocked the intersection. They were not even protesters. They were just stuck there due to ICE blocking them. As the helpless car passengers watched, ICE, unprovoked, began firing gas canisters upon the cars.

“In a paper published in Nature Communications, the researchers have shown for the 1st time that mRNA can be delivered into the cells where HIV is hiding, by encasing it in a tiny, specially formulated fat bubble. The mRNA then instructs the cells to reveal the virus.” The virus can no longer hide!

Today is the anniversary of Alan Turing’s suicide, in 1954. Turing was the father of modern computing. His codebreaking helped the Allies to win WWII. Arrested for being gay, he chose chemical castration over a prison sentence. He lost his security clearance, as all homosexuals were deemed a risk.

The weird, often whitewashed way the civil rights movement is taught (or not taught) seemed to convince a lot of people that nonviolence was met with nonviolence, instead of you know, dogs, hoses, beatings, death, etc

NEW: I analyzed nearly 300 federal cases involving the Trump administration. Federal judges—across the political spectrum—are using language I’ve never seen before. One called government actions “unconscionable.” Another quoted Kafka. They’re begging us to pay attention.

really illustrates just what a pathetic bit of theater this is there are simply not large scale riots going on, there’s a clusterfuck of an ICE operation that went badly in one place yesterday if LA was full on rioting I promise everyone would know

Whereas if you do this sort of stuff on Fox you get to be Secretary of Defense

How now-DHS Secretary Kristi Noem felt about a president potentially federalizing the National Guard one year ago:

San Francisco protest: ICE Out of the Bay TONIGHT (Sunday) 6pm 630 Sansome Street in SF, near Montgomery BART

One argument I tried to make to centrist, right-leaning folks during 2024 was that if you really hate street protest and unrest and chaos, then you should absolutely not vote for Donald Trump, because he 100% guarantees more.

Boosting this for good measure. To quote the CNN piece: "Homan accused Gov. Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass of creating “a sanctuary for criminals,” adding that neither are exempt from potential arrest." This should alarm the hell out of all of us.

Hot take. The government isn’t subsidizing university budgets. Universities are lending subsidized expertise to research and development that contributes to the public good. It’s called partnership.

Law enforcement is violently targeting press at protests around Los Angeles, from easily recognizable "mainstream" outlets to freelancers and independents. ALL press have explicit legal protections in California. #JournalismIsNotACrime. This evidence thread may get graphic. 🧵👇

lmao The Sun has a livestream of the “LA riots” on YouTube and when you click on it it’s a bunch of troops standing around doing nothing you can literally hear birds singing in the background what a time to be alive

First they illegally deport citizens. Then they unleash ICE to terrorize communities. Now they’ve got the National Guard in L.A. to silence protestors. This ain’t about law and order. This is what authoritarianism looks like.

Attention statutory interpretation experts. Please explain the role of the governor in the not-the-Insurrection-Act. Thanks.

“Saw some civilians hiding in a bunker, cowering, looking out the door. Saw some advancing Americans coming that way. I just figured it was time to do something, to not let these people get killed. Landed in between the Americans & Vietnamese, told my crew chief & gunner to cover me…” Please read:

You can aggressively enforce laws prohibiting immigration and segregating people by place of birth or you can have a free society with civil liberties, but you ultimately can't have both. Such a policy by its very nature requires a police state aimed at immigrants and citizens alike.
