I feel like Windows’ sound settings capabilities just get worse as time goes on. It’s a crapshoot on if it’ll detect my TV’s capacity for sound, and on my work computer there’s a 50/50 chance on if it’ll output my sound through my regular speakers or my headset regardless of my previous setting.

Today’s Unity shenanigans, apparently the 3rd party ad plugin we use doesn’t respond to init calls for some reason on our current version of Unity but does if we upgrade or downgrade. It just silently eats the call, never to return. No logs, no exceptions, no callbacks. Nothing.

My “smart” TV got an update and now it always defaults to the TV speakers instead of the sound bar that’s plugged in (and made by the same manufacturer too), and nothing I do makes it stick. Really, really annoying.

Just (re)-finished Bloodstained Ritual of the Night (first time since 2019) and honestly? It’s great. Real Symphony of the Night spiritual successor, and was a lot of fun. Really gets that “explore every nook and cranny” metroidvania feel correct.

Something in iOS 18.2 changed how the App Transparency Tracking dialog works because the Unity apps I work on no longer pop it on boot if you uninstall/reinstall it without rebooting the whole device and Apple is failing my submission for this. Works fine on 18.1. Nothing in patch notes. Ridiculous

Played 4 hours of Civ VII last night. Got through antiquity to exploration. The age transition is wild. It’s like starting a new game with the same board that you finished on the previous age and a slightly different rule set. Almost like a legacy board game.

I have triumphed over Xcode and Unity’s arcane requirements to ship Swift code inside a Unity game. Unity makes a framework because Apple said “you need to be a framework”, but you can’t ship frameworks within frameworks (despite it compiling and running, it fails at submission).
