@tangled.sh @icyphox.sh @oppili.bsky.social This is a seriously cool and much needed project! Did a quick write-up and walkthrough today: dailydrop.hrbrmstr.dev/2025/03/09/b... So stupid easy to set up a self-hosted knot, too. 👏🏽

The @tangled.sh Git hosting really does look like a viable alternative to central Git forges, even in its early alpha stage. I'm having a lot of fun playing with it; reminds me of the early Keybase from way back in the day! anil.recoil.org/notes/disent...

@htmx.org you gotta start devvin on tangled… it's only right since we use htmx :^)

we've got stars! ⭐ you know what to do! go go go!!!

@roomy.chat spotted on tangled 👀 tangled.sh/@zicklag.kat...

woah, we’ve got our first knot running on RISC-V! tangled.sh/@riscvpdstes...

put this on tangled!

we're happy to announce that Tangled publicly available! head over to tangled.sh to sign up! if you have an account already, log out and log back in so you get added to the managed knot.

bruh no way i typo'd this. *is publicly available. now go join! tangled.sh

we're noticing a lot of attempts to login with usernames that aren't bluesky handles. you need to use your @bsky.app account to sign in!

let's go! come hang on irc :D web.libera.chat#tangled

i’ve got a runny nose. i guess it’s a … snotserver.

*ahem* there are 16…

it's really special to see people running their own knots—there's more than 10 already! love to see how *driven* people are sometimes; they'll go as far as downloading and compiling programs off the internet with ZERO documentation. truly incredible.

Enjoyable chat with @icyphox.sh on @tangled.sh and it’s future today. It’s great to see these types of grassroots projects being built on ATP. The positive reactions from the community who immediately jump onboard to play with new open source tooling is encouraging. 💚

minor downtime to be expected as we scale knot1; invite-only restriction is going away soon!

hello tanglers! readmes used to look bad. now they look good. if you're self-hosting a knot, you'll have to upgrade. if you aren't yet—we're publishing the docs for that *very* soon!

somehow @tangled.sh ended up being the final push to me actually setting up IRC and its been so easy. i love the just pure "conversation happens and thats it" approach. refreshingly down to earth experience compared to discord and co

tangled (alpha) more like tangled (really pre alpha expect a shitton of bugs how does this even kinda work)

I can't believe @tangled.sh has got me actually opening an IRC client and actively checking it again. wild!

prettier profiles!

gm tanglers…

we’re working on getting more docs, nixos module & docker support for self-hosting knots more easily!

there was a pesky bug with the default branch detection—repo would show as empty even after push—but that should be fixed! all repos should populate commits normally from now.

huge soon: setting up a knot for the enduser will be super easy. when connected to the appview, you get the issues/prs/follows/stars with ZERO extra overhead. this is what #atproto enables.
