I think someone needs to clarify for the people on the right that no, most government work is not sexy fun billionaire shit. The details and legalese are very boring, but without them our politicians, bureaucrats, and armed service personnel don't reliably receive a paycheck. #politics #progressive

It really is that simple. If Biden had announced he appointed Selena Gomez to shut down ICE, nobody would doubt that's illegal and unconstitutional. Appointing Musk to shut down USAID is no different.

Indeed. We were promised tariffs would bring back manufacturing, create jobs, haul in revenue. (This isn't true, but it is what Trump/GOP promised.) Instead we're getting a big nothingburger: Mexico promising to do something meaningless it already did before which didn't help.

A very smart colleague just pointed out the grim truth that the U.S. leaving the WHO may ultimately be a win for the rest of the world. Why? Because without a vote, “the US can't block WHO actions like vaccine programs, disease surveillance, contraception, etc”. Man, that is daaaark, but accurate.
