I know the material reasons for the rise of fascism. I also think another reason - which doesn’t get talked about as much because it’s embarrassing that humans can be that naive - is that when you are financially comfortable but bored, abstract cruelty can give you a sense of purpose.

I know people are still discovering the joy of audiobooks as this supposed new frontier but they’re not SO new that this shouldn’t be standard procedure; come on now…

I found the Whitney to be pretty uncrowded/spacious even at peak hours!

And the whole wave to there seems to be motivated by like…memes! And stickin’ it to the man! Which I’m for! But like, with zero regard for the people already there it kinda just feels like an exercise of mobility other don’t have.

Hey Dan, really appreciate you but this is an outdated term! The correct saying is ethical non-nonagon-amy! Hope that helps!

To be fair DA has *always* suffered an identity crisis but the things I at least found consistently enjoyable about it were the political intrigue, and players’ choices having meaningful outcomes. I’m amazed Veilguard pulled off 7 factions that act totally in parallel and don’t remotely conflict.

After the AMA I walked away with the sense the writers have something akin to a mild contempt for either DA’s own lore or for its fanbase that cares about it. Veilguard’s theme is definitely moving on from the past, and it’s decidedly a meta commentary on what it’s eschewing from its own identity.
