Yeah it really is an impressive effort, also including ESMfold structural predictions

Even if you only have one metagenome, you can use already published metagenomes that come from similar sample sources for coverage info

Yeah that is a good point, I always forget about the UBA MAGs coming from single- sample binning. But yeah, I personally would not do single sample binning...

In addition, it would be good to see whether you get the same results using Spades, instead of megahit, as it often can be a more accurate assembler

Along similar lines to @stevenjrobbins.bsky.social - differential coverage is essential for reducing binning errors. As you didn't have many samples to generate differential coverage info, I imagine that played a big role in the results you obtained.

We're hoping to cover diverse research on different types of mobile genetic elements and the ways in which they influence the life and evolution of organisms. If this describes your research then we'd love to hear from you 😁

Fees for non-EU students for the MSc (like our brand-new program in Microbiome Science studieren.univie.ac.at/en/degree-pr... ) are 751.42 EUR/semester (you heard right!) with lots of exceptions. Student visas allow part-time work to support living costs. Most programs taught in English.
