Wow, this should be super interesting. Wait, no, that's his book from 2022. Sorry!

cats stealing food has got to be one of the best genres of art

>80% votes for racism and genocide. never change germany!

German general election tomorrow! I was born and raised in Syria so this will be the first time I will partake in an election in my life — and I absolutely hate it. Obviously I’m a nobody and no one has any reason to give a shit what I do and why, but I was gonna write up this rambling anyway so why

sounds good but i'm more of a Trends in Theoretical Sciences person

There's a through line here between this shooting of two Israelis, the IDF's possible killing of Israelis on & since Oct 7, Netanyahu tanking a ceasefire & hostage deal ever since, and the repression of orgs like Jewish Voice for Peace — attacks on Jewish people justified by a hatred of Palestinians

www.the100.ci/2025/02/18/c... Great post by @taymalsalti.bsky.social. I particularly enjoyed calling the too-casual exclusion of datapoints "meet-’n-yeet"

You know what's good practice for acquiescing to fascism, tho? Acquiescing to your government's active support for genocide.

pov: you stopped petting for one second

New blog post! Sometimes, when reviewing a manuscript, it's really unclear to me what precisely the authors are trying to do -- which makes it hard to evaluate the work properly. So, here's some advice for how to ensure that readers don't get lost. www.the100.ci/2025/02/17/r...

I expect universities to resist the Trump administration about as much as I expect universities to stand against apartheid, genocide, and the military-industrial complex: not at all.

Allegory alert!

Friends, I have written you a book on forensic metascience. It is free. You can have it. Happy St. Valentine's Day. If you wish to give me a gift back, you can use it to cause trouble - the greatest gift of all. open.substack.com/pub/jamescla...

that the LMU cancelled this event last week was expected (ist halt bayern) but for the FREE University of Berlin to cancel it because of political pressure is... chef's kiss

one of those "you'll never guess what this is referring to" skeets

My sister Saja, living in Khan Younis, is a trained translator English<>Arabic. Her wish is to (re-)build her life through her own strength and work. She asks me to spread the word that she would be grateful for any translation jobs; she already successfully completed one for a colleague of mine.

Hey Leipzig people! The one and only Saloni Dattani (@scientificdiscovery.dev) is giving a talk on one of the big questions—what do we really know about the world? Check out the invitation at openscience-leipzig.org, or let me know if you'd like me to send it to you via email!

I'm one of the lefties who said that you should vote for the easier enemy (Harris) because Trump would be way worse on Palestine. I guess that earns me the right to say: anyone now blaming powerless and horrified voters who couldn't support genocide are disgusting

Three of my sibling with their families returned to Gaza City this week. Like many others, they did the trek north partly on truck, on donkey cart and on foot, having to sleep at the Netzarim checkpoint for two nights. They found their apartment building

I was educated at an UNRWA school. For a time I questioned some of the things I learned there about Israel's oppressive and genocidal past and present. I do not anymore.

Five years ago today, we published this piece (👇) on Hans Eysenck's cancer and personality research in Heidelberg's student newspaper. We interviewed his long-time collaborator, Ronald Grossarth-Maticek. 🧵 1 / 6

The US is the largest national donor for foreign aid in absolute terms. (Even if it's far from the top of the list on contributions per capita, or as a share of GNI) – see thread 👇 Data from the OECD, explorable here: ourworldindata.org/grapher/fore...

Great to see the meta-research, "Aberrant Abundance of Cronbach’s Alpha Values at .70", by @ianhussey.bsky.social, @taymalsalti.bsky.social, Frank Bosco, @malte.the100.ci and @ruben.the100.ci was published in AMPPS of @psychscience.bsky.social journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10....

please, i want to one day encourage students to use OSF without constantly apologising for how inconceivably bad its UI is

New report! Hehman et al. (2018) "Disproportionate Use of Lethal Force in Policing Is Associated With Regional Racial Biases". Based on the review by @conjugateprior.org, we find a Major Error that affects a core conclusion. We recommend the authors seek a correction. error.reviews/reviews/hehm...

What is socialism, if not the state owning the memes of production

People, just stop doing Frontiers special issues. Find a nice diamond open access journal, and self-publish and collaboratively peer review the set of papers you all want to write. Do not give Frontiers money. They add no value. If anything, they hurt your reputation. MDPI is of course even worse.
