Yeah, I’m not arguing that we stop. Just noting that resisting constituent pressure is their norm. It’s helped by voters being held hostage by the imperative to elect Dems. Competitive primaries would go a long way towards making them more sensitive to pressure.

Why don’t they understand they need to CREATE a groundswell of support by INFORMING the public about what is happening; they need to DRIVE public opinion; they need to LEAD!!

The important point right now is NOT A SINGLE SENATOR IS DOING THIS.
Just last week, every single Senator agreed to fast track the most fascist attorney general nominee in history! Bernie, Warren, ALL OF THEM.
And they also blew town for the weekend the same way! Didn't even work Friday.

The flipside of every Senator having to agree to ignore the rules is that a SINGLE Senator can say "nope sorry, you got to follow the rules".
That is what objecting to unanimous consent is. If even one Senator does this a bunch, the Senate quickly becomes gridlocked.

It could very well be true these people are intellectually incapable of admitting they are wrong and changing course.
But they are not successfully putting all your demands outta site outta mind that's for sure.

The eye on the ball is that RIGHT NOW, they have a large procedural menu to fuck over the Republicans, including objecting to unanimous consent, and they need to start using it ASAP.
It will strengthen their hand for the government funding negotiations too! Duh.

Every civil rights movement has centered changing public opinion. People have risked and given their lives to change public opinion. Some have changed public opinion while sitting in a jail cell. It just takes courage.
