Almost done with my course for this year. Might finally be able to do some of my own writing, and pick back up some other hobbies and at long last go outside and feel the sun on my skin once again

Late posting it on here, but I played the excellent #OldSkies by the equally excellent @wadjeteyegames.bsky.social. The writing is top shelf stuff. Solid 9/10. My only real criticism is that the puzzling tended to fall back on dialogue trees a bit often. moviesgamesandtech.com/2025/04/29/r...

Scribbled about #REPOSE today. Fantastic visuals, but the gameplay never lets us explore things, and the linearity is quite detrimental. It's so strictly simplistic, that I felt swept past the interesting story. moviesgamesandtech.com/2025/04/21/r... #VideoGames #Review 🎮

Took a look at #BurdenofCommand. I'm always impressed when devs try to work actual history in. It makes stitching together gameplay and writing harder, as you have to account for player screw ups. The result is one absorbing game. moviesgamesandtech.com/2025/04/11/r... #VideoGames #Review 🎮

#Reignbreaker by @studiofizbin.bsky.social feels super smooth to play, and has a great sense of style. Progression is a little weird though. moviesgamesandtech.com/2025/04/03/r... #VideoGames #Review 🎮

Reviewed #SONOKUNI today. Music isn't my cup of tea, but those visuals are a treat for the eyeballs. moviesgamesandtech.com/2025/03/26/r... #VideoGames #Review 🎮

The crashing has commenced. Time to replay Yakuza 5 and drink some cider.

just for the record, I have a zero-tolerance policy towards transphobia and if I see it in my mentions it's an instant block.

This week has been strangely productive. Passed the ISTQB exam for work, submitted a uni assignment and managed to cure a toothache. Looking forward to crashing out hard after my driving lesson tomorrow.

Put on my (imaginary, I promise) fedora and whip, and reviewed #TwoPointMuseum! moviesgamesandtech.com/2025/03/20/r... #TwoPointStudios #PC #Simulation

This evening I took a look at the excellent #MainFrames by the folks at @assoupi.com. Honest to goodness fun, with no shortage of tricks up its sleeve. Cute as a button, too. moviesgamesandtech.com/2025/03/11/r... #Review #Writing #VideoGames #Platformer 🎮

I (very sleepily) took a look at #Dawnfolk today. It's an itty-bitty city builder, which is pleasant fun, but strips away a bit too much imo. moviesgamesandtech.com/2025/03/05/r... #VideoGames #Review #Writing 🎮

Took a peek at #MomodaraMoonlitFarewell today. Absolutely gorgeous, but fell prey to quite a few of my personal metroidvania bugbears. moviesgamesandtech.com/2025/02/22/r... #VideoGames #Gaming #Metroidvania 🎮

Gave #SengokuDynasty a whirl today. I had to piece my thoughts together from scratch on this one, as I was so busy playing it that I kept forgetting to make notes. And that's gotta be a positive. 🎮 moviesgamesandtech.com/2025/02/15/r... #VideoGames #Review #MoviesGamesAndTech

Had a look at #MarkoftheDeep today. Some nice ideas, but struggling to tread water in an ocean full of genres. moviesgamesandtech.com/2025/02/05/r...

Reviewed #SniperEliteResistance today. Everything is lovely from a distance, but gets a bit wobbly up close. moviesgamesandtech.com/2025/01/27/r... #MoviesGamesAndTech #Rebellion #VideoGames 🎮

Thought: what artistic medium has the highest barrier to entry? I would instinctually say video games, due to the combination of coding and art knowledge needed, but these days with stock assets and more user friendly engines, I'm not sure. I've not (yet) tried game dev though, so take with salt.

Shoulda kept my pie hole shut

Doing uni work, learning about soil composition, and my mood is ranging from 'this is fascinating, soil is awesome', to 'if I have to hear the phrase 'clay minerals' one more bloody time I'm going to bury myself in the damn soil'.

Somewhat surprised the Switch 2 is named something straightforward and not, like, the Nintendo Switch UP or something.

Reviewed #DragonTakers today. A pleasant story, shackled to some pretty uninspired gameplay. Nice music, though. moviesgamesandtech.com/2025/01/17/r...

Late to the party, but a call for support for the lady whose videos have the bestest-unsettling-est vibes!

Finally surrendered in the fight against male pattern baldness and chopped my hair off. My one solace is that at least character creation in RPGs will be a lot quicker.

Took a look at #Alaloth today. Has a lot of promising notes, but spreads itself a tad too thin. Did enjoy wandering around the world and checking off dungeons, but my brain burned out from the sheer amount of dry writing. moviesgamesandtech.com/2025/01/11/r...

Shout out to the man who was loudly singing Creep by Radiohead in Spoons. At 10 am on a Friday.

Was a bit nippy this morning

Thinking about this ghostbusters pinball machine I played in a short lived bar. Every time I played, it let out an ear shattering screech and the whole place went dead silent. Never happened to my mates, only me. Stuck to dig-dug on the arcade cabinet after the second time.

I reviewed #SINceMemories #OffTheStarrySky and never felt older in my damn life... moviesgamesandtech.com/2025/01/04/r... #MoviesGamesandTech

Took a look at GreedFall II's Early Access today. It's promising but almost unbearably rough around the edges. Perhaps too 'early' for Early Access? moviesgamesandtech.com/2024/12/22/r... #GreedFall2 #MoviesGamesAndTech #Review
