After reading through the comments here, I wonder how many vehicular manslaughter attempts there have been this year at protests around the country? Is anyone keeping track?

Was just getting on Bluesky this morning to post this article. It’s still shocking to me even though I know I shouldn’t be by this administration. It feels like the Guardian and other outside news sources are the only way to get the real scoop about what’s happening here under the clampdown.

Today they ran a story about Europeans protesting Airbnb with pictures. Not one mention of the No King’s Day parade or follow up stories.

I’m at a protest with a whole bunch of octogenarians leading chants about how transphobia has go to go and I wish the paid consultant class who are always trying to triangulate the party into meaninglessness would talk to a few of them.

As much as the violent apprehension of Padilla was a clear sign of authoritarian power, the bigger story seems to keep getting lost in the ugliness-Noem said the Federal government would not leave California and would be taking over the government functions of the state. Please talk about this!

The mom's in yellow in Portland in 2020 thought that, too. Did not work out that way. The Fed's did not care who was standing in front of them.

Portland 2020. Surreal to be fleeing from being kettled by Federal agents in full black stormtrooper gear while “Yakketysax” blared from a PA somewhere. As a person in their late 40’s with no experience of protest being met with such violent, authoritarian police tactics, it was eye opening.

It’s wild to me that the major news outlets haven’t touched that yet- not even The Guardian. It’s right out in the open!
