I haven’t been keeping up on the Unbound thing, but anybody involved with crushing authors, not just defrauding them, ought to be required to stay at least thirty yards from a book for the rest of their lives. Any book. I don’t even want them getting near the dictionary. Books are ashamed of them.

Unpleasant trivia moment: most of the Big 4 companies don’t have complete archives of their patterns. Yeah, it horrifies me too. When vintage got popular again, they asked pattern collectors to donate patterns so the companies could re-draft & re-release old designs.

Well, this sucks. However it’s VERY noteworthy to me that they quote Heather Lou of Closet Core Patterns, bc she’s one of the most successful of the “indie” pattern companies that have sprung up in the last ~20 years, in large part as a response to the Big 4 patterns being disappointing.

Some tarantulas keep frogs as 'pets'. The frogs eat ants & other small bugs that might attack the eggs or young spiderlings of the tarantula & the tarantula provides shelter in their burrows. What's more: the tarantula will attack predators that might threaten the frog. (📷: Emanuele Biggi)

I get why people think everything is a distraction. But this appears to be a genuine falling out between the two most powerful people in the country. Fascists are just messy and their power struggles always get weird. There are a lot of awful things still happening, but this isn't a distraction.
