I lived in a suburb right on the edge of rural Ohio, almost an hour south of Cleveland. Now I'm in an amazing suburb about 15 minutes (30 by train) from Cleveland. Even though it's a suburb they're very intentional about being a diverse community that's connected to nature and multimodal transit.

Congrats! Here's to many more miles. 🎉

Remember, they set up an unsecured server/connection in at least one government department and suddenly Russian IPs were slamming the system with valid credentials. We're being sold for parts right before our eyes.

The one thing I've learned is that it definitely takes some extra attention to plan, too. Even though I have public transit available it's far from perfect coverage and headways, especially the light rail. But the tradeoff is not dealing with driving and being able to connect with my community.

Yeah I wish there were way more areas in the country where this is possible. If I hadn't moved just a few months ago I'd definitely be forced to buy another car. Hopefully one day your city improves so you can experience this too!

These guys don’t have it together enough to stage this shit

I think we all are. It was only a matter of time.

It's certainly not the most ideal way for this to happen but sometimes you need a little (or major, in this case) push, even if you already had intentions on doing it before. I'm just thankful no one was seriously injured in the process.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem like we have any nearby. Hopefully that'll change in the future as the city grows.

It absolutely did. Even as a dreaded "avid rider" I was amazed at what it enables. Less/no sweat at my destination, easier tackling of hills, ability to carry groceries, lawn chairs or garden tools. A cargo bike really can be a car replacement tool!

There's probably a bike lane nearby gumming up everything.

Oh wow, they're splitting the space. Definitely looking forward to that!

But what if they need to haul stuff? Checkmate!

"AI" is now where we were with the whole "5G" debacle. It'll be nearly impossible to claw it back. amp.cnn.com/cnn/2019/02/...

What the actual fuck, did we watch the same video?

If you hadn't noticed, we're fast-tracking not having any more elections and I think they know this.

I made it known in the survey that they should try to do literally anything else here, from widening the sidewalk for a shared use path, to even road flexposts, which aren't much better than paint but still an improvement.

Also to put it bluntly a lot of urbanism posters make the mistake of being annoying and thus worse than wrong

And even worse, sits there being useless for most of the off-season outside of a few concerts/shows (which, again see "firehose of traffic and people" above).

"We have the best neighbors" If they're anything like this landlord that sounds like actual hell on earth.

Lol, he's caught on CCTV tailgating. Probably was distracted driving and didn't read the signs or see the lights or hear the audio alert. Not his fault!

Any reason the context can't be posted publicly here, in this thread?

You can't solve cars with cars, even if they kind of sort of drive themselves. It's the wrong form factor for urban mobility. They still make noise, need giant parking lots, and otherwise cause all the same nuisances that cars cause in cities. And that's because ... they're still just cars.

Ohio law is 3 feet to pass with signs on sharrow roads stating it and people are still raging assholes. I even have a jersey from Bike Cleveland that states it as well on the back and I feel like that almost invites people to punish pass. I don't get why people are so hateful.

That term feels so accurate. When I'm on a road with "bikes may take full lane" signs every couple hundred feet and the passing vehicle (almost always a pickup or large SUV) is the only one nearby yet still rides within a foot of me despite a clear left lane, it definitely feels like punishment.

History will not be kind to the media's involvement in this tragic period of the country.

It's amazing to me how many people seem to have just completely forgotten that this was all a written plan months before the election.
