I don’t know, I’m old now but I very distinctly remember young conservative women existing then too.

Even if you find another treatment it still has to be cheaper than the vaccines.
Even if it is, waiting for an outbreak then treating the individuals won’t to do much to prevent spread.

Like it’s not even a conscious alignment, it’s just that conservatives and democrats don’t agree on how best to fix everything but at least half of each agree that keeping people out of the country will improve their lives or safety in some way despite all evidence to the contrary.
