We can only do it with a good amount of prep work and setup.
Remotely exploiting loopholes in tech to break into and destroy files without any human accidentally letting folks in is a trickshot, not one that can be pulled off consistently, unless the loophole's super egregious.

I actually do agree with that idea...
Though I do not think that The Last Jedi being the first and last time we'd see Luke Skywalker on the big screen after 30 years was a great idea.
I think that the story would've only been better had we been given more context behind his failure on screen.
