I don't LOVE how ai-forward Storygraph seems eager to be but at least most of that stuff is meant to summarize and ignorable. But otherwise I am happy to have a Goodreads alternative at all. These monopolies of convenience have to be let go of for their alternatives to have resources to improve

I think sketchy is sort of generous. I have only finished one game a22 (Kentucky I think off the top of my head) and my word was "alarming"
Just not in the right zip code most of the time. I think the one deep completion was contested on a throw well behind the target.

Rapsheet just being contract leverage for Maxx' agent. I'm of the school that the Mack trade was smart and a Maxx trade could be too. But I think the possibility is like 1% given what Pete and Maxx have both directly said.

If I called the MT AG he would probably gather as much personal information as possible to sell to spammers or something. He is a soulless criminal who does not give a shit what anybody thinks except those who will give him money for what he does

Character management apps are a huge unlocker too. @mothership.bsky.social was a hit at our table before play even began because character creation was so easy and fun on the companion app. Pathbuilder is a mainstay at our table, too. HeroLab before that.

I love paying for the hard work of designers and artists and I also love useful SRDs that make games easier to get buy-in from other people at the table without having to share books or have them spend money.

I think the secondary market has seen a stock bump as people bail on muskrat. Used model 3s and stuff aren't bad vehicles if that matters more than *waves hands at everything* to them

They will usually start with a pantheon or deity's entries and be modified/re-ordered to match the character.

I always do personal edicts/anathema even if the character isn't specifically devout/holy. Helps me mold character touchstones to make sure I keep in mind and to revisit if my played behavior strays from those original priorities. Then I can either change my play or evolve the character naturally

I’m an editor/writer/producer/performer, all my links are in the usual place 🫶
But I want to shout out @bloomandblight.bsky.social (and the cast tip jar on our website). This is a trans-led show with a primarily queer+BIPOC cast, who could all use a little joy these days ✨

Hello I’m transmasc, I’ve been working on a PF 1E setting for many years.
Lately I’ve been making a website for all the world building I’ve done, it’s not a finished website yet. But there’s a lot of pages all ready up, like world maps and playable races.
It’s not perfect

Kia ora, I have a kickstarter for a D&D supplement coming up. It turns Aotearoa's (New Zealand's) native wildlife into playable lineages.
Pre-launch page is here: www.kickstarter.com/projects/lot...

The hires stand as clear upgrades from the usual result of Mark Davis hires. Of course we know that better process doesn't always mean better results. But for the first time in a long time I'm optimistic that the football program has people in charge that know what they are doing.

This brings us to last week and the stark contrast to The Old Ways that Mark has previously done these hires. The Raiders hiring committee this time around had Tom Brady and some other very very wealthy minority owners. The process was clearly different (safe to say better).

On the bright side this was probably the most professional GM search since Mark took over. They interviewed a range of high quality candidates but then also hired Tom Telesco (GM4). Proof that process doesn't guarantee results.
comment in response to

Fast forward to another firing (totally justified) and we have another exciting interim coach! Mark feels the pressure from fans and players and doesn't conduct a real search. AP (HC5) is given the full gig and even participates in the interviews for GM.
comment in response to
post
The problem here is Mark didn't conduct a real external search. He had his sights set on McDaniels (HC4) and Ziegler (GM3). They conducted Rooney Rule interviews but had a small pool overall and weren't tied to other high quality candidates for HC or GM like those guys in Minnesota...
comment in response to
post
We all know how Gruden's second reign ends. Notably, Mark didn't fire him, though. And he didn't want him to resign. He set Gruden up with the lawyers that would sue the NFL over the whole thing. Rich had an exciting tenure as interim but I think it was smart to conduct an external search.
comment in response to
post
Gruden (HC3) returns! Mark always wanted Gruden back and he did barely what needed to be done to meet Rooney Rule requirements to do it. There was no real search - just like there wouldn't be when Gruden replaces Reggie with Mike Mayock (GM2).
comment in response to
post
Jack Del Rio (HC2) was the only other Mark Davis head coach hire who came from a thorough process of interviewing a range of candidates. Of note, this was Reggie's show. Del Rio was an upgrade but still felt like a low promise option overall.
comment in response to
post
Dennis Allen (HC1) was hired on a whim after two good interviews. The team cancelled interviews with their other candidates rather than do the diligence anyways. Reggie McKenzie (GM1) was hired after one six-hour interview and the recommendation of the Raiders old guard.

Mark was right to fire Hue (though many disagreed at the time). The problem from there wasn't Al's lack of patience. It became Mark's lack of process. Mark has now hired 5 GMs and 6 head coaches since 2011. The Pete Carroll hire was only the second time Mark ran a serious search with an open mind.
