Germany is responsible for the holocaust. Does that mean that German culture is inherently anti-Semitic? Of course not. But history still happened and when such large scale tragedy happen responsibility needs to be taken.

A religion cannot exist without followers. I consider a group entity both its ideology and its people. If the people in the group behave badly, then it’s going to reflect badly on the group.

As an atheist I’m not interested in finding some obscure primal version of Christianity. It doesn’t change history nor redeem Christianity of its crimes against humanity. Purity culture will still exist even if the founders ended up believing something different.

Would Paul’s letters as written in the New Testament be reliable sources? That’s where I got my information. We can debate all day how Christianity was ‘really like’ all day before it was ‘corrupted’. The fact remains, people consider these texts holy.
