huh. looks like NUCs shifted to asus in late 2023. the last batch i got was early 2023. the seeing monitor software acquires and analyzes 5 gb image cubes so needs fast ssd, ram, and as many cores as possible.

properly scoped, NUCs are pretty handy. one of the few options that’s available identically both here and in 🇿🇦. the other option was dell and i’ve had way too many issues with them being unstable under linux. rpi5 is almost beefy enough to handle this task, but not quite…

120 minutes literally gave us the band garbage. steve, the guitarist, was watching it and saw shirley manson in an angelfish video. showed it to the rest of the guys, had their agent make some calls, and the rest is history...

well, they certainly haven’t been honoring tribal lands in the tohono o’odham nation so i’m not saying it’s off the table. just a lot of easier options in the area like canyonlands and bears ears…

it’s tribal land, though, so any such sale would have to go through them. more likely that the NPS would divest and it would become a tribal park like antelope canyon and monument valley.
