Beautiful! @strakyhutch.bsky.social has wonderful reference packs that I’ve used to practice figure work.

I totally understand. I have noticed that while the 3B pencil I mentioned has some breakage issues, I admit it makes beautiful, dark markings. It’s a matte finish that doesn’t like to smudge. It is nice for certain things. The Blackwing matte is a 3B to 4B, and it’s also very smooth. Smears nicely.

For higher values, I have used the 3B Noir by Conte A Paris, but it’s frustrating to sharpen. I feel no matter how careful with the utility blade, there are breaks in the lead from shipping.

Outstanding. I have a similar approach. I start light with 2H, but I noticed that I have pretty decent pressure control and will test my ability to control value.

What pencils did you use for this one?
I’ve been using everything from 2H, H, HB, and 2B of Mitsubishi Hi-Uni, Tombow, Blackwing (matte and pearl), FaberCastell 9000, and Steadtler (including their mechanical).
It depends on what’s closest to me, or how much sharpening I feel like. Hahaha.

I contrasted this pose with an ink based on one of the photos from the @das-oxy.bsky.social page.

I was looking for something to practice with ink, and I contrasted another image with graphite. I’ll post in the other photo used as well.
