Honestly, I'd love to see other House Dems devote some of their floor time just to calling Musk a dick, over and over and over again. It'll highlight the Trump effort to crack down on protected speech, emasculate Ed Martin and completely enrage Elon Musk.

Streisand effect these weird dicks.

“At least Russia has elections” Russia frequently jails and kills any opposition to Putin, who has been in power since 1999. If you like dictatorships, that’s fine. Just admit that. Don’t insult anyone’s intelligence—including your own—by claiming Russia has real elections.

Blatant lie. Agencies inform one another of beneficiary deaths and immediately stop payments, and for those with no next of kin to inform, the IG constantly monitors for this. But you’d know that if you didn’t fire all the IGs.

History buffs will know that every authoritarian leader eventually converges on some version of: "I *am* the state. I can not break the law, I am the law, the law is instantiated in me." Our march to authoritarianism so far has been excruciatingly by-the-book. Hitting every beat. No surprises.

We should have told them.

Headlines from today: Vice President Vance Accuses European Leaders of Censoring Free Speech White House Bars Associated Press From Spaces Like Oval Office and Air Force One

If Pam Bondi wants to dismiss the Eric Adams indictment, she can just do it herself. She is the attorney general, she doesn’t need to have a line prosecutor do it for her. But they want to be able to say a career person did it.

well damn

Dear Governor Kathy Hochul: It's time. You have the power to remove Eric Adams from office as NYC mayor. Take a stand -- and stand up for cleaning up corruption in New York. REMOVE ADAMS NOW. Sincerely, A New Yorker

DOJ leadership has put all Public Integrity Section lawyers into a room with 1 hour to decide who will dismiss Adams indictment or else all will be fired. Sending them strength to stand by their oath, which is to support the Constitution, not the president’s political agenda. 🇺🇸

👀 "If no lawyer within earshot of the President is willing to give him that advice, then I expect you will eventually find someone who is enough of a fool, or enough of a coward, to file your motion. But it was never going to be me." -- AUSA Hagan Scotten, SDNY.

How did this story get even worse in the time it took me to write this? kevinmkruse.substack.com/p/the-thursd...

It's getting tiring to keep saying this, but for posterity's sake I will: any previous administration would have been instantly sunk by this. Before January 20, 2017, this would have been the most stunning corruption scandal in the history of the American justice system. Now, it's...a Thursday.

Russ Vought, the architect of Project 2025, is unfit to lead the OMB. Senate Democrats and I are holding the Senate Floor to oppose his disgraceful nomination. I'm up next.

If you want to know about the legal efforts fighting against Trump’s anti-democratic and illegal actions, your HAVE to subscribe to @democracydocket.com. There’s no better source for this news: www.democracydocket.com/me-newslette...

Ignore the media headlines reporting that freezing federal spending or shuttering federal agencies “raise questions” or “push boundaries.” It’s an anticonstitutional lawbreaking spree.

BREAKING: We just filed for an emergency order to block the release of names of FBI agents who had any involvement in investigations related to the president These are people who have put their lives on the line for the citizens of this country Their rights & privacy must be preserved 👇 - TN

Exclusive: Federal workers have filed an emergency motion requesting a restraining order to disconnect the DOGE server that's being used to conduct Trump's "deferred resignation program." The workers had previously accused DOGE of illegally bypassing a mandated privacy audit. By me at @wired.com:

Elon is accusing people of committing crimes while he’s actually committing crimes.

NEW: Two top security officials at USAID were put on admin leave Saturday night after refusing to allow officials from Musk’s DOGE to access systems at the agency, even after DOGE personnel threatened to call law enforcement, multiple sources familiar told CNN www.cnn.com/2025/02/02/p...

Yes. You should be.

Please?

On the bright side, this excellent from the CA Dept of Education: "our offer is this: *nothing.*"

NY Times, Oct. 8, 1933.

Trump is attacking the FBI and his supporters use the rationale that it’s necessary because people no longer trust the FBI - conveniently ignoring that people don’t trust the FBI because Trump and his ppl have spent years attacking it

Trump is a dangerous liar.

Team Trump: An Unholy Gathering of Liars, Dimwits & Lackeys Just about sums it up www.digitaldrumbeat.com/p/team-trump...

Trump said 67 people died in a plane crash because not enough white people work at the FAA. Remember, this is the guy corporate America lined up behind.

It’s never been more important to make sure you are getting your information from people who know what they’re talking about. (“Often says things I think are smart and that I agree with” is not the same thing as that.) (Neither is “sounds certain.”)

Name one thing Trump has done since elected that Vladmir Putin wouldn't approve of. Get it, now?

T-5 hours. #ReleaseTheReport

I can't tell you how absolutely livid I feel about the fact that, while I'm checking in with Los Angeles friends to make sure they and their homes are safe, certain Republican senators are going on TV and explaining with shitty little grins how LA had it coming and doesn't deserve relief aid.
