I admit it is cope and have no defense for thinly hoping that the truth isn't reality. Christ.

So I still lowkey think they hacked the voting machines in a bunch of battleground states, but yes, absolutely fucking abhorrent.

Lean into it and insult them again the next time you see them - establish dominance!!! šŸ˜‚

I haven't heard a thing on it so I don't think so.

He absolutely would have won a bigger majority this Fall.

I would legitimately fundraise all the corporate donations possible for you. You know how I feel about them. I would want you to ban them afterward lol

Fantastic! I've actually never listened to an audiobook and have been tempted by this series because of the rave reviews. Now you wait with the rest of us for Book 8!
comment in response to post
I've heard such good things about the audiobooks! Onto Book 2?

Hard agree.

There are societies on the planet that seem to control this better. The US is the extreme case of unchecked money, but places like Canada do a poor job themselves. The threat of "investment going elsewhere" is completely empty.

Executive bonuses, tone-deaf leadership, and this religious adherence to 'neutrality' masked as 'journalistic integrity' are all huge issues. CBC is Canada's public broadcaster. You are allowed to have certain values (democracy, freedom of the press, truth). Pretending otherwise is absurdism.

Good game, really stellar hockey.

This some Downton Abbey shit for real. Great headshot!

I can't disagree and my small hope is NL escapes any notice by virtue of being so out of the way and economically insignificant. I also think the US will split itself in half the moment Trump tries something.

The older Gen X folks are largely indistinguishable from the Boomers now tbh. The younger Gen Xers (the 76-78 crowd) and the older Millennials (82-84) and maybe the crowd I'm in (79-81) have kind of a weird "double generation" thing going on.

Triangle Tittie, circa 2025 (seriously great stuff James!)

Good. They fucked around with this alt-right propaganda horseshit to try and win power and now they realize the stuff they were aping from the US may end up in there not being a Canada at all. If you need hatred and ignorance to win then you aren't winning anything.

Contrast it with that Scotiabank ad where they tell us that we shouldnā€™t worry about people having more money than us because we should be happy with what we have. Wild direction the world is going.

Treats?

I remember Dairy Queen for sure. I think the chinese spot was China House or China Kitchen? They had a $2.50 home fries and dressing and gravy that would be a full styrofoam takeout container. Mrs. Vanelli's you have. There was a place that sold sandwich/coffee fare - like croissant sandwiches?

I believe there are a few tools to scrape your twitter list to see if they've come over here so you can follow them.

I mean we can fuck up our oligarchs a bit too while weā€™re at it canā€™t we? Lol šŸ˜‚

Bro I think we should nationalize all the fiber/cable laid by Bell/Rogers while we're at it.

The only bids we win in NL are ones where we are the only bidder. In NS this is not the case - we regularly win competitive bids.
comment in response to post
Yeah it almost always seems to favor the larger markets dominating the smaller ones - unless the smaller ones value the local expertise. In NL they heavily value the 'big company' gloss so the small companies just constantly get beat by bigger firms - even though they cost a lot more.
comment in response to post
It still blows me away that Provincial buyers don't heavily reward local bidders on procurement bids. At best you'll see a 10% category for 'local presence' that is resolved by the international conglomerate having a PO Box in the province. 10/10.

Thereā€™s now a non zero chance that when you go there they close the borders or arrest Canadians or some other equally insane thing. Iā€™m not travelling anywhere where that is a possibility.
comment in response to post
I just need to convince NL public buyers that the ā€œmainland premiumā€ isnā€™t an indicator of a superior product/service.
comment in response to post
This seems to be the next disruption weā€™ll see. Itā€™s wild to call ā€œlocally owned fairly pricedā€ a disruptor but here we are in 2025.

The search seems to be a bit hit or miss but I'll admit I've not had the time to really dig deep on this. Most of my fav posters arent on twitter anymore so searching there is fruitless. It'll come over time I guess?

It is a subtle flex but James can pull it off :P

So glad you liked it! It's become one of my favorite series of all time.

Yeah why are they worried about revenue/clicks like a for profit news org? The upper management runs like a profit org without any of the profit risks/oversight. Shouldnā€™t be both. Be the public broadcaster which requires a different approach to leadership/management.
