Despite its obvious faults cognisance must be given to this post.

They perceive Europe as a socialist bloc that respects international law, so they have common cause to weaken, fragment and destroy it. Expect cracks to show in broader European unity, as UK, France, Germany and former Soviet states draw closer together.

Two years later the same teacher caned me for having written DICK TURPIN IS INNOCENT on my own ruler. Mind you, he had just walked through a door booby trapped with a gym shoe full of ground up chalk, which had fallen on his head and covered him in powdery residue.

When the UK became part of the European common market in the early 70s, the history teacher insisted that we draw margins measuring 2cm wide in our homework books, instead of the usual ruler’s width of one inch. I estimated, he measured and I got two strokes of the cane.

It’s just a staggeringly great song to me. I’m surprised it hasn’t been covered left, right and centre, particularly when boy bands we’re milking the past.

I like your perspective. I relive my youthful love of music for its own beauty, unburdened by the shackles of street cred whenever I hear this song, which is (incredibly) not written by David Gates. youtu.be/YZpF-sQ8Yhw?...

Thank you very much for including Another Time Another Place on this fantastic playlist. I am very flattered and grateful. 🙏

The sombre tone of the footage didn’t seem consistent with Get Back’s revisionist upbeat perspective on the sessions. They looked and sounded great to me, though.

A constant thème emerging from the rewatch is how childlike and naive John is. Lovely teeth though.

Amazing how the exact same footage can tell two different stories. #GetBack25

Possibly, but I haven’t watched that in decades.

Yep, but I remember thinking at the time that the regret comment was significant because it denoted a shared frame of reference that was rooted more in the early days and that JL clearly saw the assault as his most serious transgression.

What if it was really John who was the controlling one in the relationship, with Yoko giving voice to his thoughts? Paul, George and Ringo wear their hearts on their sleeves, but with John, you just can’t tell what’s going on behind those glasses. #GetBack25

Tough call in pre-recording/streaming times between that and 5th Dimension & Dick Cavett on ITV. My Mum who had TV control would have gon for Tom.

Apt use of Handle With Care lyrics. Very very good.

They’re all a bit volatile and moodswingy, taking turns to be the most negative about the band’s prospects. It all very end of relationship.

With this and the Magical Mystery Tour white suit stair footage, there’s an argument for saying that John would have been the Beatle most likely to win Strictly. #GetBack25

Everything in the book, with the exception of deep air fried Mars Bar. Life transforming.
