Alright here is a games journalism tip that was drummed into me when I was 19 and did work experience at a magazine: do not use the words 'mechanic', 'gameplay' or 'narrative'. When you reach for one, you usually have something specific in mind, so say the specific thing instead.

Thinking about and loving these backgrounds from Final Fantasy Tactics A2. The colors, the shadows, the buttery smoothness, the architecture, and the incredibly appealing sense of shape and form. Mobygames lists Tsuyoshi Wada, Chiho Kawase, and Rie Koyama as the background artists. Gorgeous work.
