The Atlantic has an interesting article about the importance of community in the real world, not just online. www.theatlantic.com/magazine/arc...

www.trianglefreethought.org/2025-events/... Are you in the Raleigh/Durham area? I’ll be giving a talk on trans rights and state-church separation on March 7th with @tfs-nc.bsky.social ! Details in the link below!

Kat Grant visits TFS on Saturday, March 8. Get to know her now. www.trianglefreethought.org/2025-events/...

Linda McMahon is a school voucher advocate who will pave the way to divert millions of tax dollars from public schools to private religious schools. Take 2 minutes to visit our Humanist Action HQ and urge your senators to vote NO on McMahon’s confirmation. americanhumanist.org/actionhq/?vv...

“Church-state separation doesn’t just protect your right to believe as you choose, it also protects your freedom to live as your authentic self and have control over your body." We all have a stake in protecting religious freedom. baptistnews.com/article/show...

This sort of rhetoric is disgusting, un-American, and downright dangerous. No one is above the law. And it is exactly what the White Christian Nationalist ideology has been pushing for years — the idea that Donald Trump is a "savior" figure who is ordained to rule and is answerable only to god.

Last year the President of TFS met with Congresswoman Deborah Ross about joining the Congressional Freethought Caucus. She expressed support for separation of church and state, but had reservations about joining "another" caucus. Time to reach out to her and other area Reps this year. Add your voice

The hike scheduled for today has been moved to next SATURDAY (2/22) due to an act of no-gods . . . . Please RSVP via Meetup where the most timely updates are made. www.meetup.com/friends-of-t...

Their for the shout out @raleighstrong.bsky.social Our mission is building the non-believer community in the Triangle through activism & advocacy, community events, public service, and educational events. Almost all our events are free and open to the public. Please come out and join us

Them: What created the universe? Me: I don't know that anything created the Universe. Them: Then it must be God. Me: What created your god? Them: Nothing, He's eternal. Me: Then it must have been Supergod. Who was in turn created by Superdupergod. No special pleading allowed.

The National Prayer Breakfast and its ties to the Fellowship Foundation, an extreme anti-LGBTQ+ Christian Nationalist organization, are a sham. Holding a government-run, taxpayer-funded Christian ceremony in the heart of the U.S. Capitol disrespects the secular ideals that founded this country.

When government plays favorites with religion, it backfires. The best solution? No religious proclamations at all. Equality means keeping church and state separate. Kudos to the activist who stood up for fairness!

How are you spending Easter weekend this year?

We plan to have @katherinestewart.bsky.social as a speaker this year. Keep tuned to this feed or sign up for our newsletter at TriangleFreethought.org for all the details as they're finalized.

After you join the AHA Discord, if you're a nonbeliever in the Triangle, check out the TFS Discord too. discord.gg/m9REBcnU

If we have to fund all religious schools regardless of their curriculum or qualifications then the degrees students get tell you nothing. A degree could indicate a well-rounded education or it could mean they studied a religious book 6 hours a day. Or anything in between.

Are you a secular humanist between the ages of 18-35 and want to become a leader in our movement? There is a training summit happening in August of this year out in California. There are scholarships available to handle travel costs. www.atheistsunited.org/2025-kindlin...

I know it's a Thursday, but I'll be going live in a bit to talk about the past week in church/state separation! So much to talk about! Hope you'll join me. youtube.com/live/OnV7ZD8...

We have a new blog up by our Co-President Annie Laurie Gaylor, honoring Cecile Richards, the former leader of Planned Parenthood and ardent abortion rights defender who died at age 67 on Monday. ffrf.us/4hoko99

Come together, right now, for freedom without favor and equality without exception. #separatechurchandstate

I don't know why government meetings need a moment of silence. The corporate world send to get things done starting with the work. But silence is better than praying.

Not a big fan of the term congregation, but community is important. If you're in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill Triangle in North Carolina, help us strengthen ours.

The Congressional Freethought Caucus fights for + protects church-state separation, & with enough members, it can be an impenetrable bulwark against those that want to erode the secular nature of our govt. Visit our Humanist Action HQ & urge your Rep. to join. americanhumanist.org/actionhq/?vv...

Now more than ever we need separation of church and state. Have you reached out to your congressperson to ask them to consider joining the Congressional Freethought Caucus? @americanhumanist.bsky.social makes it easy. www.votervoice.net/Shares/BgVKA...

School voucher programs are reshaping education, but at what cost? This @propublica.org investigation dives into how taxpayer dollars are funding private religious schools, raising questions about church-state boundaries and public accountability. Read more: www.propublica.org/article/scho...

In the face of ascendant White Christian Nationalism, Martin Luther King Jr.'s words in response to the 1963 Supreme Court decision that removed mandatory prayer and Bible reading from public schools — and gave rise to American Atheists — are just as relevant today.

Here's the deal #AtheistSky. We want to help you connect with on-the-ground activists, communities, journalists, academics, partners, and allies who are working to protect religious equality and combat White Christian Nationalism. Here's a starter pack to kick things off. Who else we should add?

Our advocacy for the rights and dignity of trans people isn't some reflexive opposition to the views of White Christian Nationalists. But we cannot ignore the regressive, largely religious views on gender and sexuality at the core of their attacks.

Triangle Freethought Society has proudly signed on. LGBTQ+ rights are human rights and an essential part of humanism.

The Triangle was hit with snowpocalypse and came out the other side! So that means our January hike is still on tomorrow. More info on our website, RSVP on MeetUp appreciated.

Our monthly Happy Heathen Hour meetup is cancelled tonight in anticipation of the storm. We don't want to contribute to unnecessary road travel or putting our community at risk. Secular Saturday Social tomorrow morning depends on the roads in Raleigh. www.trianglefreethought.org/2025-events

One of the newest Members of Congress, Rep. Yassamin Ansari, identifies as openly agnostic – joining a small but growing cohort of non-religious lawmakers reflecting the increasing diversity of non-religious beliefs among Americans. thehumanist.com/news/nationa...

Last Secular Saturday Social of 2024! But we'll be back in 2025 if you can't make it.

Reasons Greetings! For those celebrating Gravmas/Newtonmas today in the Triangle, don't forget our annual lunch at the Istanbul Restaurant in Cary at 1pm. Visit the event page for the deets and to click over to MeetUp and RSVP so we can grab a big enough table. TFS is hosting, but not paying.

Don't let theocrats get a foothold in your local and state governments!

Is December 25th just another day in winter? Have no holiday food eating plans? Join us for a low-key, no-mess, no-mas, secular lunch at Istanbul Restaurant & Cafe in Cary, NC at 1:00 pm. All are welcome. Visit our event page for more info and to RSVP. www.trianglefreethought.org/2024-events/...

Join us in Jan. for a three-part series with Douglas Berger, who will lead sessions on methods that humanists can use to amplify our voices in our communities. Learn more and register here: form.jotform.com/242747052917...

Extremism is on the rise and threatens the values we hold dear. At the AHA, we’re fighting back and we need your help. 🌐 Donate now: americanhumanist.org/givin… 🚨 TODAY ONLY: Your impact will go further! Thanks to Ashok Varma’s generosity, every dollar you give will be TRIPLED up to $25,000.

Genuine fundraising is a process of building relationships based on trust, shared values, and a common goal. In other words, it doesn't happen in a day. It's something we work at every day of the year. But we're grateful for every dollar we receive this #GivingTuesday at www.atheists.org/tuesday ❤️

It's #GivingTuesday and if you’re in the giving mood but aren’t sure where your funds are needed, TFS has some suggestions to support the separation of church and state on the national level. www.trianglefreethought.org/giving-tuesday
