CARTOON OF THE DAY

When my second child, Teddy, was born back in December I was fortunate enough to be working for myself - so paternity leave wasn’t an issue. But for my first born, and for millions of parents across the country all Dads are entitled to is 2 weeks off. That’s simply not enough.

There’s a chronic issue of litter along Koblenz Avenue which neither the city nor county councils have any interest in clearing up. No sooner do volunteers do a litter pick than it’s back to “normal”. Maybe part of the problem is the complete lack of bins along this busy footpath.

☀️ Glorious. Crisp, cold and glorious. #ThorpeHamlet (half at least!)

Happy New Year! 🥳 Double celebrations as the Christmas Cooker has also been removed!! What are my resolutions this year? 1. Post more on BlueSky 📝 2. Don’t get angry and throw my cooker off the balcony 🧘 3. Eat more greens 🥬

🤷‍♂️ Maybe they burnt the Christmas Turkey and threw it out in frustration? Either way, not cool. I’ve reported to the Council to get this picked up!

🦁🌳 Lionwood is receiving just under £500k from the Greater Norwich Growth Board to help make this beautiful green space in Thorpe Hamlet more accessible, and ensure its success as a haven for wildlife. This is fantastic news and I look forward to following up to get a plan on when work will begin!

An unexploded device? In Thorpe Hamlet? On a match day? What a nightmare 🥹 Pls steer clear of our lovely little corner of Norwich if you can - just for today!

It wouldn’t take much at all for us to start requiring developers in the UK to build facilities like this. CIL is great, but it relies on councils or community groups to have the inclination and ability to do something with it. Instead, let’s make the developers build community facilities.

www.eveningnews24.co.uk/news/2475514... This new legislation gives Councils the opportunity to hold public rental auctions on shops sat empty for more than 366 days - a great chance for us to curate a better kind of high street. Let’s hope Labour-led Norwich City Council have the guts to use it.

What happens when government that wins 33% support from people who voted gets 100% power? Great dissastisfaction. #Democracy - parliament that reflects that views of people; it would be a good idea @makevotesmatter.bsky.social @electoralreform.bsky.social www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/poli...

I can’t tell you how different it is on X now after so many people have left. I have always followed mostly right-wing accounts because I cover them, and they are running out of people to pick fights with. So they’re just mostly fighting with each other.

Here’s to hoping one of those two new Green MPs represents Norwich South 👀👌 #GetGreensElected

👊 This is what community in action looks like. Last night residents from across #ThorpeHamlet braved the cold to discuss a plan for making the roads in our area safer for our kids. @liamcalvert.bsky.social also attended to talk through the complexities of parking and traffic enforcement.

www.eveningnews24.co.uk/news/2470766... I’ve had some really interesting conversations recently with business leaders in Norwich saying how the Labour-led City Council’s lack of vision and support for the business is killing the high street in the county’s economic hub. We need something bold…

"This is fine" evidently had a 14th century start thehistorianshut.com/2020/10/14/i... ht @[email protected]

I warned you there'd be dad jokes.

Blue skies are ahead, methinks…

Green MP Adrian Ramsay says UK government's £22bn bet on Carbon Capture & Storage would be better spent on hard-to-abate industry and nature-based solutions www.businessgreen.com/opinion/4379... WATCH my recent webinar on #CCS for more on why it's time to #StopCCSNowEd youtu.be/r6ZLIKa9aHI

Without sounding too #Partridge, pedestrianisation in #Norwich is a hot topic - big feelings in both sides - but the evidence is stacking up to suggest it would do wonders for the high street which everyone wants to see. Time for some big bold, brave decision making I think!

Really interesting report from @livingstreets.bsky.social that shows pedestrianised town centres have higher sales. Pedestrians spend more money in local shops than people arriving by car. You only have to look at towns and cities in the Netherlands to see this in action.

Now we need to make sure we’re changing planning and development policy to make this compulsory on new builds!

As an elected office holder, in line with UK law, here is my social media political imprint. Published and promoted by Elfrede Brambley-Crawshaw on behalf of Joshua Worley and Norwich Green Party, at 213 College Road, NR2 3JD.

Very glad to have made the switch to Bluesky. Here’s to getting back to sensible, reasoned and respectful conversations and a fair and open democracy! 🤞🙌
