Strange that if you say something negative about Israel you could lose your job but incompetence in your specialist area is ok:

Catholic schools abused their trusted position by urging parents to vote Liberal. A letter to parents falsely claimed only the Liberals would maintain funding, ignored Labor’s identical commitment, and misrepresented independents. Dishonest, unethical, and it demands answers.

You can’t lie when you sell someone a chicken, but it’s entirely legal to lie in political advertising in Australia. The deliberate spread of misinformation by parties and other groups was a prominent feature of the recent election. We have to fix this problem in the 48th Parliament.

“The Coalition were aiming to capture working class voters in the outer suburbs, without bothering to develop any policies that might appeal to them.” @rachelwithers.bsky.social #SundayShot #auspol

New episode (1096), with Dr. Cahal Moran, the creator of the YouTube channel Unlearning Economics (@unlearnecon.bsky.social). We talk about his new book, Why We’re Getting Poorer. #Economics #Science YouTube: youtu.be/oZp31BdZvPw Podcast: bit.ly/43dnpUj

Visited bookshop earlier, the science & lit books all looked so beautiful and it was really pleasant to read the joy & wonder expressed in page or two. Struck me social media has become boring. Think I’m going to switch back, be more offline, just page or two at a time.

Noticed on other platform quite a number of tweets bagging preferential voting. Now I see…

For everyone who was like “Google search is getting worse,” we were absolutely right.

Those in powerful positions with generous salaries are often ignorant, forgetful or worse, that women in low-paid employment deserve a reasonable standard of living too. Nobody knows when he/she may be dependent on person care and kindness.

As we wait for the result in Goldstein, here's my latest article published on AIMNetwork focused on assessing MPs using the 8 Mechanisms of Moral Disengagement. Onward we press. @deniseshrivell.bsky.social @communityindeps.bsky.social #auspol theaimn.net/a-reflective...

Why have ALP swapped in a young guy with an MBA to be AG??

Hmm…

Finland is the happiest country in the world, Universal Healthcare, houses the homeless, no for profit schools, taxes the rich. While the UK/USA are two of the unhappiest and don't do any of them.

In Tasmania, salmon farmers can choose their own level of disclosure about the volume and location of antibiotic treatment. "Which means the public have no verifiable knowledge about whether, or how much, antibiotics have been used." Great piece from @joshuablackjb.bsky.social.

"Dosed-up Tasmanian salmon could pose health risks in the long run" My piece for @thenewdaily.bsky.social on Tassie salmon farming, antibiotic dosing and the ecological + health risks @australiainstitute.org.au www.thenewdaily.com.au/opinion/2025...

What happened in Goldstein that people preferred that self interested 🤡? I do not understand, at all. (Usually have some idea)

Also think Australia has become a country of Basic Wealth (instead of basic income). Problem is it’s not accessible to all

Labor pulled off this massive win by moving to the right, leaving LNP with 2 choices, they chose the wrong one. But…what’s the point of Labor if they continue to protect the status quo rather than do anything meaningful & substantial?

What happened to Greens? Too internationally focused? They’re right about housing.

Every Independent incumbent returned (with the caveat we don't have WA figures in yet, but hey! happy to make some assumptions) and a few more elected, including @nicboele.bsky.social and, unexpectedly, Jess Price. #ausvotes2025

Perfect & pleasing colourful summary of major party leaders www.thesaturdaypaper.com.au/comment/edit...

when I was 15, I went on the march of the living & was at auschwitz on yom hashoah I remember being shocked at how close the nearby town was--they saw & didn't stop it now w/ the internet we all see the "repeat genocide, a holocaust in our own time" in Gaza & still we do not stop it it's on us

I'm in this new essay collection from @rooseveltinstitute.org discussing reining in corporate power spoiler alert: I propose ending shareholder primacy rooseveltinstitute.org/blog/reining...

So depressing. With favourable conditions imm excluded it would take 86 years for housing to become affordable. What happened to Labor? Why can they not be honest & address housing honestly & effectively? www.abc.net.au/news/2025-04...

Dutton really flunked on dividing us. Think majority are so over the vitriol. We’d prefer policy to improve lives.
