But as I + others have written (e.g., after 2019-2020 Black Summer here insidestory.org.au/what-are-whi...), it is a habit of non-indigenous people to rush to FN people in times of crisis and ask them to solve problems not of their making. FN rights and knowledge are ignored until "we" have a crisis

A fun bit of trivia from my fieldwork interviews is that all the drones are grounded if the police have their helicopters out, which they often do. As one small business owner said "no drone delivery today, the cops are chasing a stolen ute"

From what I've gathered, this is determined by a mix of aerospace regulation (distance from airports etc) and optimal height to reduce noise complaints. You actually cannot hear or see them when they're flying overhead. Only when they come down low to deliver a package

Coming in late on this: in Australia, commercial delivery drones fly 120metres, and then hover to about 7 meters to deliver a package. Remarkably few incidences of packages falling but there have been reports of power outages from emergency landings www.abc.net.au/news/2022-09...

On this last point, we offer some cursory notes on the politics of representation in a medium that is fundamentally **non-representational**

It builds on this earlier shorter essay on the racial politics of feature space w some more refined discussion on ideologies of 'completeness' in foundation models, semantic compression as cultural technique, and the compulsion to analyse racial bias as a problem of lack arxiv.org/abs/2211.06323

Weirdly, people were not fussed about the noise when I asked. You only hear the drone as it's lowering your package and even then it only lasts a few minutes. You also need to put this into context of a super car oriented city. Drone noise is nothing compared to highway noise, traffic noise, etc

Definitely! Very keen to cross paths again. I'll be at 4S Seattle if you're also around ✌️

Thanks Joan! And sorry for hijacking your post! "Drone delivery" is my current sleeper academic activation phrase. Immediately triggers ranting, citation lists, grand narratives of Google's exploitation and expansionism
