DOGE will almost certainly end up COSTING the government more than the trivial sum they’ve saved. Nothing about the way they’ve operated makes a lick of sense as a sincere attempt to cut waste or ferret out fraud. They do just enough theater on that front to preserve the illusion that’s their aim.

@anildash.com has a really great post expounding on DOGE as "procurement capture" here: www.anildash.com/2025/01/04/D...

Per usual, @scottmccloud.bsky.social has said it better and more nicely than I ever could.

The whole album is just an incredible document. "I Can't Get Behind That" is a duet with Henry Goddamn Rollins!
I mean, "Is this the end of William Shatner," asked the album from 20 damn years ago.

"We'll just terraform Mars," they insist, unable to terraform Earth, a planet that is already perfect except it's like 2° too warm.

Of course, @roganslist.bsky.social is on the case.
Here's an excellent look at the Medicaid state of play and what we can do to make our voices heard over the GOP's lies.

One of the all-time greats! The best Bush era war on terror album.

Slightly more seriously. It's crazy how the entire supposed constitutional theory of Trump 2.0 is that all power is vested in this single individual, down to every last tiny detail and whenever you ask him he's like "I have no idea; ask the lawyers"

There’s at least as much we can learn from this strike as anything led by the IWW or any of the big strikes that did win.

Our betters are captured by the stunted perspective of a capitalist market viewpoint. It always is about limiting your humanity to contribute to shareholder value. Their solutions can never be “to learn” or “to think deeply” or “explore and improve our understanding of art.”
