2. The #2030Census advisory committee meeting cancellations come more than a week after President Trump issued an executive order that calls for a list of "Federal Advisory Committees that should be terminated on grounds that they are unnecessary" www.federalregister.gov/d/2025-03133...

Okay, one +1 to the Fox graphics package. The AR score graphic over the field has the Eagles and Chiefs logos made from Mardi Gras beads. 👍🏻

At the same time, I'm so disappointed by the Fox graphics package. While I (honestly) appreciate Cletus the Robot, it reverts back to the Rex colors and oft-used filigrees and fleurs. New Orleans (and La) has so much to draw from--food, music, art... Heck, give me beignets & gators twerking.

Dear Parking Reform Community, It is with a very heavy heart that I share with you the news that Professor Donald C. Shoup, Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Urban Planning at UCLA passed away at age 86 this Thursday evening. He was with his wife at home and passed peacefully. (2/6)

As @jonlambert.bsky.social points out in this great @npr.org segment, NSF is congressionally mandated to look at how increasing participation of under-represented groups in science, potentially creating a conflict with the recent executive order. www.npr.org/2025/01/30/n...

I hear you, @miladyfirestorm.bsky.social, but there's a practical challenge of trying to find ways to do good for people when the only inhibition is political semantics. I think we can *all* agree making a street accessible for all is good, but those with the keys are being silly about words.

But of course, headlines-seeking and earnest work do not often go hand in hand.

I don't think BSky or any social media can articulate a common definition of "woke" or "DEI," but I think we can generally agree that telling stories of resilience, perseverance, and community is integral to the American story. 🗽

3. Inclusion ✅. The value of these stories are important to the American story, and deserve to be shared. 4/

2. Equity ✅. We argue that the learnings from this can promote social cohesion within communities, with lessons applicable to other communities and undoing a legacy of erasure (from red-lining to urban renewal). 3/

1. Diversity ✅. Our project was proposing to document digital, spatial and information-sharing networks of a minoritized community within the Midwest and the suburbs. The space outside of the coasts and center cities, within the twenty-first century, is understudied my many scholars. 2/

I'm among the respondents, and I'm not allowed to just fanboy. What *ONE* sparking question should I ask/contribute?

Great stack! I have half of them in one of my courses, too. What's the topic of your course?

I'm guessing they just trained the model on the open internet like everyone else, which infers greater access to corpora, then applied a blacklist to it. While folks post about Tiananmen Square 1989, I asked about Winnie the Pooh and got the traditional answer...

It's a fantastic experience, even though to make you climb for your first 2km is quite cruel. It's a beautiful bridge, but it's a tough way to start when your adrenaline is high.
