Yes. We're about to need people to fight the fash, provide mutual aid, and look out for the marginalized more than ever. If you're willing to die in the first place, do it for a cause.

Liked just for the tip that hashtags actually work here, but I read the story and liked the concept a lot.

You start practicing while working full-time, eventually transition to either a WFH job or scale back to doing half part-time work and half art (usually making way less than a salaried position), then full-time art once you're successful.
Glacially slow and arduous, but that seems to be the way.

I have a memory disorder that affects my ability to make quick connections on the spot, so yeah. I love humor writing where I can pore over it until I find the perfect wording, but I don't think I'd be great at being spontaneously funny.

Not OP of course, but without knowing the specifics, what's keeping you from modifying the second book's story to accommodate the change? A lot of novel writing is basically coming up with a series of beats you want to hit, then finding out how to create the pathways between them.

Literally the trolley problem IRL, where the only advantage to not pulling the lever is the moral high ground of saying "at least *I* didn't kill anyone."

I think it's an insecurity catch 22. Men are told women only want men taller than them, so they don't bother asking out women taller than them because they assume they only want men even taller than them.

It's a mixture of study and practice. I like to think half and half, even. In fact, "mindless" practice can even make you worse if you're drawing with bad habits. So don't worry, it's about more than the grind.

This is HUGE. As someone who suffered memory damage from severe bipolar psychosis to the point where I was afraid I'd never be able to write to the same level I did before, I know just how much of a recovery milestone it is to return to the passions you lost.

Damn, I saw this fic on the Spacebattles forums when I started coming out, but I didn't know it'd hit other platforms and gained popularity. Good for the author.
