Mailed mine in Saturday. Which is weird for me, but the Wife no longer works at a location with a drop box for ballots.

Recommendation from a friend, both as an author and a funny Internet Guy to follow, back when Old Man's War came out. I deliberately sought you out when I moved to Mastodon and then here. I figure if Scalzi's here, it can't be bad. Plus, you know, Scamperbeasts.

We get a daily report from USPS, and we get that "label created, waiting on shipper" email for days before it actually hits a truck. Such a tease.

First time I saw one in person, the driver was over 6 ft tall and folded himself out like a spider. Knees up by his shoulders when door was closed. One got donated to my H.S. Shop class. Year 1 cars you had to drop the engine to change the plugs. Year 2 had an access portal in the firewall.

I somehow only knew of Thundercats.

Summer of '83, my fam moved to Klamath Falls Oregon, a shit town on the wrong side of the mountains. We, knowing no one, managed to find (be found by?) the only Punk in the County, and he adopted us. I was 11 and trying to build a personality; his contributions like this played a heavy role.

Sweet Hoolies, that would have been such an awesome casting!

I have been known to lean out the window and bellow "Nice signal, Bitch!" at the top of my lungs on occasion...

Alas, I am too late, they are now sold out. I shall have to make do with my digital copies.

THIS is the reason to create AI. A machine smart enough to figure out optimal dishwasher loading and just handle it for us while WE make the art.

The #1 reason I put the car into adaptive cruise is to change the music without plowing into a bus.

Remember the first time Dolt45 was in office and there was a hubbub about abuse of the White House pharmacy? I'm pretty sure that was his first stop when he moved back in.

We played a ton of CP 2020 in the 90's/00's. I got the Roll20 bundle for RED but haven't done anything with it because I don't currently have a crew.

Welcome to Downtown Portland, OR - 19 Churches/Cathedral/Temples, and a full-on Cult: They don't get quite this dense on the East side, but there are plenty, including something called "Skatechurch" that just popped up in an empty sporting goods store near me.

Luckily the area I grew up in had a couple of Granges - buildings that are used for community things with no religious affiliation, so you can throw a big community bash without having to go to a church. You'll probably still run into the Pastor, but he has less oomph without a pulpit to stand in.

Yeah, the ritual is the part a lot of people overlook. I don't do the insane espresso builds you see lately, but I do enjoy the process of grinding the beans myself.

At this point I don't care how many "seasons" a project says it is, I'm looking for a minimum of about 15 hours of programming before I even start watching unless it is specifically a miniseries. Currently watching "CSI:NY" in it's glorious 22-ep seasons.

Good point! Maybe not on Twitch then.

This isn't a fucking debate, Ron, it's a damn battle!! Democracy is fighting for it's life and I want to see bruised knuckles on every Democrat! Grind the whole thing to a complete stop, shut everything down. No concessions, no progress, don't let them move a single damn vote.

Being over the age of 50, it's my dream self running around in search of a restroom while trying to wake me up before I find one 🤣

I read something a while ago that said they base parking lot stripes on the size of the best-selling cars of the era, and in the U.S. that has often been the Ford F-150 pickup, which keeps getting bigger - but they don't repaint the stripes every year.

Reminds me of that clip of Hitler rocking to the beat of his amphetamines while watching the Olympics.

In fairness, we've been working on Bohemian for 40-odd years now, Kendrick's work is like 5 minutes old in comparison. I needed subtitles and an after-action report, but dang that was a solid performance! Pulling the flag dancers out of a clown car was epic

I think I may have a score of 2 - I don't think we owned a dictionary, either. We went to the library often enough it wasn't an issue.

The thing to remember is that all Chinese companies are essentially co-owned by the Chinese Communist Party, and exist at the pleasure of same. Dis the Party, Bad Stuff Happens. So if the Party says "scrape user data and manipulate feeds to our plan", they do.

You left out part of the sentence - the full sentence is "you have to sell your company /if you want it to work in the USA/" We don't have the right to force sale, but we have the ability to pass legislation to block their access to USA consumers. Right or wrong, that's the gist of it.

LibreOffice will happily save in a .docx format, I use it for home. FAIK, only thing that MS Office does for your average user that other office suites can't do is the Outlook app. Word, Excel, and Access have all been duplicated. What function isn't duplicated from Word into LibreOffice?
