it's been a while, but iirc the tl;dr is:
"if your baby catches on fire in a wool blanket, they're more likely to escape without significant injuries"
vs.
"if your baby catching on fire is a concern, you may be dealing with bigger issues than the choice of material"

It's not even strictly just history. In crafting spaces, there /is/ the "burning baby" discourse re: synthetic vs. natural materials.

I'm not naming any fics in particular, but I love playing with style and sprinkling in poetry, even when it might not be strictly necessary (it is. to me.)

Very rarely! I usually go with the flow, but sometimes I switch POVs when I get stuck and can't identify why.

and sometimes I have a vague idea I work towards while leaving in some "I'll figure it out later" gaps (Dangerous Hours, Someone Else's Story).

This is on a fic by fic bases. Sometimes I sort of write a scene to feel out if it's even doable (Acts of Worship) and go from there, sometimes I plan most of the fic in advance (Ruptured Heaven), sometimes I just make it up as I go (Pearls from the Deep),

A tough one! It's hard to decide what counts or doesn't count as a classic, but let me name a few that I would argue are pretty iconic...
The Bloody Chamber (short story collection), My Cousin Rachel (Gothic novel), Piranesi (a category of its own, has the makings of a modern classic)

ohhh that's tough... maybe a snippet from an older fic for #themagnusarchives - it's called "Date Night" and it's a short fairy tale horror, combining standard narrative and inserts of monologue-style horror, modelled after what you'd see in the original medium

I'm very much a one-WIP-at-a-time person, but I'm excited to keep going with Burying Bones! Always happy to talk ideas though

About to out myself as a fraud, but I don't really think about those things when writing. Yeah, there may be some recurring themes if you squint, but not on purpose.
Ditto imagery, though I love a good mirror, literal or metaphorial.
