They want war crimes. I do not know why the media will not say this. They say they want war crimes. Heggy got his job because he supported war crimes on Fox News. They think it is good to hunt children for sport.

listen to this. Elon can barely form a sentence right now.

Check out this lovely piece by my colleague @siobhbar.bsky.social on the beautiful Irish medical compendium that is Oxford, Corpus Christi College MS 129, published in the latest edition of the college alumni magazine, The Sundial (pp. 12-13): www.ccc.ox.ac.uk/sites/defaul... #LEIGHEAS

Going to be quite frank, I do not find anything about this “king” stuff to be funny in any form, don’t think there’s a place for us to just crack wise about it and pretend it’s normal, yes we are all irony-poisoned but if we don’t draw a line here then we have no line

Brazil shows that it can be done. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/18/w...

"Republican Sens. Lisa Murkowski (Alaska), Dan Sullivan (Alaska), Jim Moran (Kansas) and Steve Daines (Mont.) were all co-sponsors of this law. None responded to requests for comment."

Want to go visit the national parks this year? Sorry. The reservation system is shut down, EMT personnel are gone, so don't get hurt or lost. No one can clean the bathrooms or cabins, so they'll be closed. Rangers are fired. www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/arti...

"the Department of Veterans Affairs announced the dismissal of more than 1,000 employees who had served for less than two years. That included researchers working on cancer treatment, opioid addiction, prosthetics and burn pit exposure, U.S. Sen. Patty Murray, a Democrat, said Thursday."

Honestly, for all the talk about Canada, Panama worries me more because the military actually would do that one and he’d get away with it. I know they’re helping him out with deportations now, but Trump delights in treachery. Don’t want to see a small democracy merced by wanton aggression.

"nobody even knows where the [national debt] money went and you’re not allowed to ask." Huh? Its all public record at OMB, CBO, & Treasury websites, which I've also used to publish 600 reports, articles, & chart books specifying where all the money went. You can log off Twitter and go look it up!

I think this speaks to a broader problem, that the lawyers have psyoped us into thinking the Constitution is not written in plain English and that there are not records of the people who wrote the 14th amendment. That there’s some arcane knowledge required to understand what’s plainly spelled out.

Just revisiting a memo I wrote last week... "The Trump administration appears to suffer from the “lump-of-power fallacy”: the idea that U.S. power is a “stock” of capabilities that exist independently from its relations and relationships.

Republicans are doing this because they want gay men and transgender women to contract HIV. They believe that dying of AIDS is a deserved punishment for having gay sex, just as they think that forced childbirth is a deserved punishment for sexually active women. This is not especially complicated.

For a US audience, Hegseth is doing muscle porn, for an international audience he is the first SecDef to ever saw the US is too weak to face Russia. What a disaster.

Mitch drags the country 99.9% of the way to ruin, then grieves when we keep rolling over the line

American companies should understand that any non-enforcement guidance does not protect them from prosecution by this administration, and certainly does not protect them from prosecution by the next one. This is an invitation to commit crimes that will later be used for extortion against them.

It is not "efficient" to operate a hospital in a town of 3,900 people in a county of 8,500 people across 9,000 square miles. It is not "efficient" to provide emergency medical services in the most isolated national park in the Lower 48. But people's lives depend on those "inefficiencies."

I adore this little chap at his writing desk, hiding in his initial Q for a little over five centuries. In a missal printed by Peter Liechtenstein at #Venice in 1520. @theulspeccoll.bsky.social Norton.a.35.

I've called every day this week. On Tuesday, the automated greeting was stuttering quite badly. This morning, I got actual busy signals. It's has been like 15 years since I heard a busy signal.

Another thing: stop taking Elon at this word. IRS Direct File is still live, as is its older cousin, Free Fillable Form. Elon and Trump lie, all the time. If Elon tells you it's raining, you first instinct shouldn't be to grab an umbrella it should be to look up.

Prices are just self evidently way more of an immediate thing for ppl than paycheck taxes are. That pundit was basically saying "ok what if they do the Biden gambit again with prices vs net income but ppl like the tradeoff this time." We know they wont! We just did this!

i just told two people at the table next to me at the bar who were talking about everything about this and they’re going now, too. i am getting my household and band to go. that’s 7 in 10 minutes. how many can you get to sign up and attend?

There's no word to describe this other than "evil" www.nytimes.com/2025/01/31/w...

Oh my gooodd we keep doing this. "A dark, spooky man named Meven Stiller leaked a document outlining how amazingly handsome, smart, and dangerous Steven Miller is.* ffs. A bunch of people at OMB are literally leaking "HAHA IT WAS OUR IDEA ALL ALONG, OWNED LIBS. WE IN FACT AREN'T IDIOTS"

the Agriculture Department inspector general pushed back more on her firing/replacement than the director of the FBI did www.usatoday.com/story/news/p...

The White House has to "check back" about whether or not they just shut off the program that funds health care for 2 million Arizonans? I can tell you the answer: Arizona's Medicaid payment portal has been turned off. This is absurd.

We passed a law. They don’t get to force people to petition the king for mercy. We are still a democracy and this will be found illegal.

A squid, on page 48 of Ms. Codex 3, three volumes of paintings or hand-colored sketches depicting mainly insects, fish and other marine life, birds and flowers. We don't know much about these books except that they were made in Japan, probably in the 19th century. 🔗: https://bit.ly/3tN9u9T

Nice printed #manicule in this copy of the parables of Marko Marulić Splićanin (1450-1524), the national poet of Croatia, dubbed in his lifetime ‘the Christian Virgil’. Printed at #Venice in 1520 and part of F. J. Norton’s collection of post-incunabula @theulspeccoll.bsky.social, Norton.e.60.

the data behind this kind of decision must show some incredibly dark stuff that they're trying to get ahead of

one reason i am adamant that we should not treat the constitution as purely or exclusively a form of law is that it cedes the field to clever lawyers. “oh, well if some chuds in trump’s white house says birthright citizenship doesn’t exist then i guess it doesn’t exist.” but

it is genuinely important for democrats to turnover their membership in the senate because its culture is genuinely corrosive and change in congress can only come from members

This is both an effect and a self-perpetuating cause of the centralization of executive power. Congress has existed more or less exclusively either as a rubber stamp or a barrier (depending on its partisan makeup) for the executive's agenda for so long that it has no identity beyond those roles.

Yes. Obstruct, blame, obstruct, blame. Everything sucks, everything is his fault. A lot of Dems are far too quick to adopt awful GOP policy positions and yet refuse to learn from the GOP's successful tactics. Blame, don't help, more blame. Everything is their fault and they have no solutions.

"There’s no possible negotiation aided by these threats that will yield more for the United States than the good relationships do. And no possible military action, no matter how smooth, that would leave the United States in a stronger international position."
