hi yeah so this is extra true if the Senate passes that god awful nonprofit bill. AO3 is a project under the nonprofit Organization for Transformative Works. AO3 uses its non-profit status to protect authors from copyright suits. It's a core aspect of the site. Losing it would be catastrophic.
