So his “merit” is WHITENESS… got it. Good to know.

Man. Real talk. @bsky.app is just so much better. Once I get out sports and hip hop news accounts right, I’m completely dumping the dirty bird. #blacksky #sportsky

Thanks for the reminder. Our new podcast The Idea Of… is really good and we’re very proud of it. Right, @basseyworld.bsky.social

Ive many issues with cultural appropriation… but by far my biggest problem is that it always results in the disenfranchisement of black people It’s truly insidious to gaslight us into thinking we don’t own what’s ours.. and then proceed to make a profit on our culture while still being antiblack

🚨 New Episode Drops Tomorrow: “The Idea of… Wait – Are We Recording?” 🚨 In this episode, we talk about the chaos, the fatigue, and the necessity of sitting in the lull—because that’s where the real work begins. 💭 Hope doesn’t come from ignoring the darkness—it comes from facing it.

Based on where I went to high school and college, and the industry i work in, I’ve friended a handful of white folks along the way on social media. Outside of my business partners and 2 or 3 others… the silence from white people in the midst of racial terror on us Black folks is alarming. #dulynoted

Been saying this for YEARS. Decode the language and call it for what it is….

remember stuff like this when they tell you that diversity means a lowering of standards

I wrote this while watching the ceremonial welcome for our new dystopia…This message was therapeutic for me to write and is emblematic of what I think we all have to do in light of what’s about to happen… Write. Read. Act. Talk. Share. Fearlessly. Loud. Now. www.ideaofmanhood.com/manhoodblog/...

Me and @basseyworld.bsky.social recently started our new podcast “The Idea of…” and we’re proud and excited about our first 3 eps. Bassey is a brilliant and powerful author and poet, and I do aiight. We speak towards the noise & nuance of Black culture,…

A few months ago, I was talking to my guy @theideaofmanhood.bsky.social about life stuff. Then we started a podcast. We talk about the nuances and the ideas of… Listen to the first episode of The Idea Of Podcast here: open.spotify.com/episode/0tds...

…and they will surely beat this into the ground. Unfortunately, everyone has “ties.” And only few can speak through their “ties” to have an honest, unbiased conversation. That’s the problem with the popular platforms.

Yes. Kendrick is what the cultures been missing. But sonically… musically, he’s not filling the void or adding what rap is in need of. Lyrics always on point. Beats and production???? That ain’t it…. TO ME!!

He has a few tracks that left me intrigued. But too many tracks sound like “mustard type beat” music. Too many tracks sound like “Aai Cuz… play that music for us to do this drive by to…” *crip walks away.

As a fan of K. Dot’s artistry over the course of his career (not just post Not Like Us), this album falls short to me. Seems shortsightedly and mockingly “west coast.” Like he made an album JUST for all the ninjas on stage at the Pop Out concert… which is cool. Reacting to the critique? Maybe.

Once you hit 40 you don't really need an alarm. Your problems will wake you up everyday right on time.

Let’s go Buffalo!!!!!

My boy plays D1 soccer. Soccer is so wildly nuanced and different that basketball and football from a recruiting, marketing, and development perspective. So many soccer clubs and recruiting agencies need professional help to bridge the athletic piece to the family and socio/emotional piece.

How do I become an expert in the psychology and the nuanced perspective of sports parenting and raising strong, adaptive, and confident student athletes. There are so many ridiculous takes and narratives shared by professional and former athletes that just get it all wrong. IMHO.

Picture it... Dream Night Club.. 2006... free buffet from 5pm - 6pm. $1 drinks before 8. Dance 'til bout 11... stumble to car... hope the man-dem on the Okie street didn't take it... Hit up Ust. for a slice, maybe... because parking was a breeze over there, then... #whatatime #DCbeforeDMV

I think Black people need to disinvest from the BIPOC label. I think we need to disinvest from labels and narratives that other entities place on us. As I process what this means, I think Black folks need to selfishly reclaim our time, energy, our unique cultural contributions....
