MEDIA: Are you a communist? MAMDANI: I am not ... I call myself a democratic socialist in many ways inspired by the words of Dr. King from decades ago, who said: 'Call it democracy or call it democratic socialism, there has to be a better distribution of wealth for all of God's children'

I was trying to come up with an analogy and the best I could think of was "imagine if you were sick and the government denied access to modern medicine and forced you to rely on outdated 19th century stuff" and, oh

We don’t need any more digital security guides. We need more content creators where bad digisec information goes viral like Tiktok and other short form video platforms. Please, I can’t watch another video with a million views where someone suggests Meshtastic to a general public audience.

Let's be clear that this will be deployed not just against immigrants, but against anyone seen as providing support to immigrants. Illegal support at first, but the definition will inevitably expand to include indirect support, mutual aid, and eventually even rhetorical support.

The moral of The Boy Who Cried Wolf is not that wolves aren't real. If a person cries "wolf" when there isn't a wolf, that's bad, because some will later doubt a legitimate warning. But when a real wolf attacks, it doesn't put you under some sort of obligation to lay down and let the wolf bite you.

dude they nerfed you in the recent patch. yeah i'm sorry they fucked up all your stats you're bottom tier now and no one likes to play you

when both wolves inside me died, the deer began to flourish. left unchecked, all flora consumed, starvation took the herd. cascading failure has driven my spiritual ecosystem to total collapse. i cough up their bones and add them to my Bone Man; a skeletal golem built to generate shareholder value,

There are only three political positions in America today 1) I like the fascism 2) I'll acquiesce to the fascism (reasons for this one vary: cowardice, access, denial, misguidedly thinking that acquiescence is savvy, etc) 3) I oppose the fascism The rest is details

Discussions of institutional design that ignore this are not serious.

We are decades into an ever-intensifying domestic right-wing terrorism campaign, supported rhetorically by all major right wing institutions and ignored as a structural issue by everyone else. It’s getting worse but the conversation never changes.
