Psion hardware/software hackery, especially SIBO/EPOC16 (Series 3, etc). Made #PsiDrive, a USB Psion SSD drive. Slowly rewriting the SIBO C SDK. ⚠️ WARNING: Will sidequest ⚠️ 🦣 https://oldbytes.space/@thelastpsion 🦑 https://github.com/thelastpsion

Couldn't possibly relate to this. Nope. 👀

HIVEMIND: Are there any good guides for designing flex PCBs in #KiCad? Thinking about trying my hand at recreating some Psion Series 3 screen ribbon cables.

What now? #retrocomputing #retrogaming #adventuregame #interactivefiction #Psion #Inform7

“RP2040 has now been certified to run at a system clock of 200Mhz when using a regulator voltage of at least 1.15 volts.” github.com/raspberrypi/...

Wrote a bit about me hacking an extra 2MB RAM onto a #Psion Series 3mx. TL;DR: The hardware can see the RAM. A RAM dumping app can see the RAM. The OS couldn't, but now can and doesn't like it. Did I make a mistake? Don't know yet. To be continued. #retrocomputing oldbytes.space/@thelastpsio...

If you want more nerdery from me, I'm much more active over on #Mastodon. oldbytes.space/@thelastpsion

Anyone here ever written a C compiler? Assembler? Want a challenge? #whistlesInnocently

Current challenge: Deciding which projects I want to do, and which projects I *just want done*.

I'm switching gears on my #CTRAN write-up. I will come back to the blog posts, but right now I think it's more important to make sure the code is fully commented. I hope this helps others understand the process. But I also think it'll help me to see what changes I can make to make CTRAN better.

Fixing retro computers is sometimes like this

Hi @nanoraptor.danamania.com - I built your minitower C64 concept to exhibit at VCF SoCal this weekend (crediting you for the concept and design of course). It's not fully assembled in this photo. I hope you like it!

The powerbook keyboard project is slowly coming together

Today’s #RetroTrio offers you‪ the #Psion #Series3‬, #O2 #Xda IIs and #Casio #Cassiopeia. ‪Which will you keep, gift to a friend and delete forever? #RetroComputing #ComputerHistory #RetroGaming #VideoGames‬

Got a wee Psion 3mx on Ebay cheap because the screen had lines on it & backlight was wonky. Quick repair, and witness the power of this fully operational 3mx! :-)

Absolutely appalling behaviour - I've stopped being surprised by this kind of thing, but it doesn't stop me being angry about it. www.tomshardware.com/tech-industr...

Latest video! Today, or this week, I'm hawking my wares on eBay. Who wants to buy a stunningly gorgeous ZX Spectrum I've lovingly restored back to better than new condition? You don't? Fair! Actually cant imagine anyone in the hobby doesn't already have one :D But will be fun watching the auction.

I'm now convinced that I'm not going to get #clangd to behave with C89 code for 8086. It might be a skill issue on my part, but there's only so much time I want to spend getting my tooling working. Until I have a better solution, I'll have to stick with VS Code. #retrocomputing #retrodev #NeoVim

Is anyone out there using #NeoVim for #retrodev in C, specifically 16-bit x86 (e.g. DOS)? Do you also have a working language server? I'm hitting some issues trying to configure #clangd that I just don't have with VS Code. (e.g. recognising `cdecl`) #retrocomputing #msdos

Just solved a problem with a regular expression. Now I'm waiting to see what two new problems pop up in its place.

We haven't even shared the video publicly yet (coming Friday) and you've raised £5,000 on day one with our digital bundle to support our museum works. Thank you so much everyone! Treat yourself and help us out here: rmcretro.store/products/ret...

When I was a kid, computers seemed so novel and fascinating. They filled me with wonder. What is the modern day equivalent for today's youth? Should they not have the pleasure to experience the same sense of wonder in technology that we did? #retrocomputing #vintagecomputing

The Video Game History Foundation @gamehistoryorg.bsky.social will open its digital library system to the public next week. www.videogameschronicle.com/news/the-vid...

Finally - FINALLY - unit tests in #FreePascal make sense. As usual, it was a few tiny details that I couldn't quite grasp. Someone very kindly took the time to walk me though, and now I'm all set to test and refactor #CTRAN! FYI: I'm using FPTest, which has a much nicer CLI output that FPCUnit.

Apologies for all the philosophical and political posts - we are living in Interesting Times. As a reminder (to myself as well!) I'm much more interested in building stuff like this. MicroBeast is available now. VideoBeast and NanoBeast will arrive later this year.
