"The cheaper the hood, the gaudier the patter." - D. Hammett

The world order is "wankt" because white Americans voted to turn over all political power to Republican wankers. Thank you, I'll see myself out

Remember how before Pearl Harbor Roosevelt used to berate Churchill for his lack of gratitude and yell that Britain had no cards left to play? That’s when America was great.

I don’t remember our Wonderful Republican Allies being so enamored of our precious post-WWII alliances when they blew them up and insulted our allies in the service of their bloody pointless illegal war in Iraq.

Tough but fair

“To all immigrants: just remember what I did to my puppy.”

I blame pompous out-of-touch Democratic elites for pushing their feed-the-starving agenda on average Americans (H/t St. David Brooks)

Good story even if you have to read to paragraph 536 to learn that the precedent for ignoring and sidelining lawyers was set during the Bush Administration’s campaign of torture and war crimes to promote their bloody Iraq War. Gift link: www.nytimes.com/2025/02/27/u...

Imagine if all Democrats followed suit.

Fair comment

Agree. Boycott the Tangerine-Faced Traitor's s***show and hold an alternative at the same time featuring the victims of the coup. And not some dismal Democratic gasbag like Amy "Hot Mess" Klobuchar.

Really important to keep in mind that everything Trump is doing right now is made possible by the essential and total complicity of the Republican Party and "conservative" leaders. In the House and the Senate, the courts and the administration, the right-wing media and donors. All of them.

You can voluntarily decline to turn over your wallet to me. The consequences for failure to do so will vary.

The atrocious Ed O'Keefe on @cbseveningnews.bsky.social falsely described the premeditated Oval Office mugging of a US ally standing up to Russian aggression as "Trump standing up for America" and "Trump felt disrespected" We didn't survive journalism like this.

Translation from the Russian: "TASS was on the approved list of media for today's pool. As soon as it came to attention of the media that a Russian agent was in the Oval, we immediately changed our story to pretend that he somehow snuck in while looking for a Starbucks."

In the 90's my father on a flight to Florida sent back his steak because it was too well done. I guess he expected the pilot to grill him another one.

Not tough enough. The correct response should be: "This behavior by the President and his toadies, combined with the shameful silence of all elected Republicans, demonstrates that Republicans are unfit to govern and unwilling or unable to protect our nation from its real enemies."

Number of elected Republicans condemning Trump's atrocious Oval Office assault on America's great ally Zelenskyy and demanding that Trump stand up to Russian aggression: 0.0. www.nytimes.com/live/2025/02...

Of course, it wouldn't be the first time that a President and his VP abandoned all American values. Does Liz remember when George W. and her dad authorized torture, waterboarding, and beatings of helpless detainees to generate more lies in support of their invasion of Iraq?

Gotta figure there are anxious conversations underway in Taiwan right now

Of course, our friends and allies would have the same reaction if a President took this lunatic's advice to start a useless unwinnable war with Iran.

If Harris as VP had injected her unsolicited opinions into an Oval Office meeting with a foreign leader, Republicans and some media types would have berated the hell out of her. Watch the reactions to Vance lobbing insults at Zelensky that were intended to derail that meeting.

Good column except for his passing off as common wisdom the idea that the federal workforce should be shrunk and reorganized. Who says, other than those who don't like the fact that the workers are administering laws they dislike?

Never mind the guarantees; Dems must vote no until (1) all employees fired since 1/20 are rehired, (2) all stopped grants are released and received by recipients, and (3) all agencies illegally dismantled are put back to work, notably USAID and CFPB.

The performative trash talk of this cheap hood is mostly for the benefit of his bent demented boss. It also gives this bully someone to blame when asked why he is so miserably failing to carry out “mass deportations.” mobileapp.bostonglobe.com/02272025_da8...

This thread is just more reason why Dems should not cut any deal with Republicans If Rs want to shut down the government cause Musk is gutting Social Security, have that fight. Make that the fight

In this post the words "doing something else" are, with respect to what Lindsay Graham does in private, doing an immense amount of work.

A classic Tangerine-Faced Grifter move is, after embarrassing himself in public by eg falling asleep at his Cabinet meeting while outsourcing the Presidency to a ketamine-addled plutocrat in a T-shirt, doing something even more ridiculous and dangerous to change the subject.

Anyone got a mediocre idea for a column? Let's round up the usual blessed suspects. (No link to pisspoor content, per directive.)
