The pitch is in fantastic condition and the players are enjoying the surface.

It was actually the Declan Rice red & mini injury Ødegaard picked up home to Brighton in the third game of the season that started this whole house of cards falling… (not sure if I’m joking here 😭 )
comment in response to post
There was even a little mini losing the title before Merino came on against Leicester!

It feels like we’ve “lost the title” 3 times. 1st when Saka did his hamstring … then Liverpool dropped points & we were back in it. 2nd when Havertz did his hammy … then Liverpool dropped 4 points in a week. Finally this weekend, and that was the actual end. But really it’s been done for a while.

My British coded brain can’t really deal with AfD being coloured in blue and not on the edge of the seat map here

Isn’t that 2.44 points per match with him? 88 points in 36 games.

Whist all of this is true, the Tories will turn to someone that isn’t Badenoch if they don’t want to extinction. And if his name is there then the members will vote for him. Whether he’d win an election is another matter as you rightly say. But he could well lead them again.

The hopeless romantic in me was making the case that if we closed the gap this week, and then got Saka/Martinelli back after the break etc etc. We are as good. But the equivalent is them rolling out a strikeforce of: Gakpo Gravenberch Danns … 8 points down. It’s not feasible
comment in response to post
If Liverpool had kept winning, it would be easier to be at peace with us just making top 4 pretty comfortably despite the injuries. The fact they’ve dropped 4 points in a week & slightly opened the door means there was (probably unreasonably) brief hope, which makes today feel worse than it should.
comment in response to post
It was certainly wrong. And to be honest where/why I think they got it most wrong was thinking Liverpool would coast to the title so it wouldn’t matter come the final reckoning. Whereas standing here right now a forward could have bridged the gap as they’re stumbling
comment in response to post
I complete agree with your point btw. Sterling’s career for Nwaneri or Saka would be amazing

All we need to do is keep churning out world class right wingers from the academy every 6 years!

We were pretty healthy last season, similar to Liverpool this, and got 89 points. That’s a reasonable bar for a healthy top quality side. Obviously the key difference last year was City were also healthy and got 91! Whereas this year no other top side is healthy.

Do you track this by game state or result? My sense is a lot of our xG over performance is when we’re winning already but we over perform to a lesser extent (or even under perform) when drawing or losing

Ha yes well it’s that’s they “they won’t” which I’m kind of alluding to. Put it this way, I would 100% take going to Anfield 2 points back right now
comment in response to post
I can’t really see a way we don’t need to win at Anfield to win it really

I think spotted him do it in the melee just now you know
comment in response to post
What if he did something really horrendous so as to result in a ban for the final 14 games? Like maybe biting off Pickford’s ear. Does he still win it then? Tough one

The LibDem voters are more liberal on immigration than average and the Reform voters much the most anti-migration But on every one of these 9 questions, the LibDem voters are closer to the median voter than the Reform voters

I still think we ideally wait until after the March international break and 1st April to get him ready for (hopefully) CL quarter finals. But wouldn’t be surprised if he’s on the bench for the CL round of 16 2nd leg mid March just in case needed.

Rasmus Hojlund is a great example of investing in talent early
comment in response to post
We spent on Jesus. And he turned us into title contenders until his knee injury. At the time he was a better player than Isak, and we don’t compete for the title in 22/23 meaning we don’t get Rice et al the following summer. We definitely should invest big up front this summer though.

Yep! I liked the Morata on loan idea!

Honestly he proves otherwise, Tomiyasu doesn’t count. Much like Tierney until the last few weeks. If he does then he covers both left & right, and we don’t need anyone I’d say. I’d have played Dec at RB or CB before now instead of 5 personally, but it doesn’t look like the manager wants to.
comment in response to post
Hmmm it only requires 2 of White, Saliba & Timber to be out at any given time and has cost us so much. One is coming off an ACL, one plays every minute and one played every minute then needed surgery. I’m fine with selling Kiwior & getting a CB who can play both sides. I think it’s risky otherwise
comment in response to post
If Zinchenko goes (as well as Tierney obviously) I have no issue with keeping Kiwior tbh. He is at least available and can provide cover in the cups. But the amount of times we’ve had to play Partey at right back (who I desperately hope won’t be here) this season…
comment in response to post
We need a RCB/RB more I think as Tomi is a ghost
comment in response to post
If he signs for us then he’s Henry reincarnated. If he signs for ManU then he’s the new Martial

I am completely with you. I think the tone has been markedly different than I’ve heard before from Arteta? That said if the option comes to: match the £60m Spurs put down for Tel or get no one then… well, I’m glad I don’t have to make that decision.

What I’m really saying is: welcome Carlos Vinicius/ Taiwo Awoniyi / Edouard

Watkins to Arsenal, Tel to ManU OR Tel to Arsenal, Bailey to ManU. Both just about feasible with 37 (!) hours left.
comment in response to post
It feels like we’re trying for Watkins and Tel is the back up. I do fear the fact Tel likely knows this means it could go horribly wrong

Yeah it’s absolutely huge but that doesn’t take into account player sales. Durán plus the CL money from this year should sort them out unless it’s much worse than thought
comment in response to post
I am strongly in favour but don’t think it happens - even with their recent Rashford links. Feels like a deal that was there only fleetingly if Durán to Saudi didn’t happen

Utterly image obsessed and yet completely blind. They lose so much credibility by not ever just apologising or admitting fault.

Same with Nwaneri’s “time wasting” yellow card when standing over a corner vs Brighton. Refs are just cops looking to teach these young men who are far more talented than they are a thing or two about authority
