This is cool.

Trump is an unpopular president taking unpopular actions that are expressly forbidden by judges. Here’s why he still has a mandate.

This looks cool!

Given what is happening in Washington, getting up to date information on scientific discovery is more important than ever. Tune in to KLfM for breaking science new stories 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Help support independent #science #journalism. 👇 open.spotify.com/album/7cpbVH...

I know this site only reaches a subset of neuro/ cog professors. If you know a young professor in the area who would benefit from a week of targeted learning about doing good science, good mentoring, networking etc, it would be great if you could forward them: compneurosci.com/Neuro4Pros/i...

Cool study by @ndosenbach.bsky.social et al. looking at individual prediction of traits in tasks 👇 www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1... Nice addition to our work looking at the same problem using our state space method in the HCP Led by the amazing @hardigirl.bsky.social www.nature.com/articles/s42...

The Papua New Guinea Courier is in rare form.

come and work in the UCL Neuroscience & Mental Health group, with @olijrobinson.bsky.social!

This looks like a cool study!

A framework for uniting space and time in the mind and brain osf.io/preprints/ps... "Reducing space to time has important implications in cognitive science and philosophy". Interesting 🤔

@nealstephenson.bsky.social book "The Fall" (written 2019) seems to capture the logical conclusion of what is happening right now in the US (aka known as Ameristan). If you want a fictional account of where we might be headed it is very much worth a read. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fall;_o...

280!

Really excited about this paper out today in @natureneuro.bsky.social If you are interested in how to characterise the role of the DMN in human cognition you really should check it out. a 🧵

This is cool!

Had never thought of it this way....

In an effort to create some non-doom related content I am going to begin a Beatles Song-A-Day thread. This is a deliberate attempt force myself to add something positive & therapeutic. While composing this I already deleted several earnest attempts to justify the frivolity in the circumstances.

Just reposting this in case you would like to listen to my new tunes with the Natural Philosophers. It would mean a lot to me if people like it so please DM me or leave a comment in the thread if you did listen and enjoyed it.

The news cycle right now - even just for science & higher ed - is overwhelming. We have to do it, but fortunately, we don’t have to do it alone. My team is focused on tracking what’s happening to research funding, jobs & salaries, shared datasets, university responses & safety of our communities

I think widespread panic and mass anxiety is all part of the plan. Feeling hopeless reduces efficacy and impairs action. Take a break from doomscrolling and make a difference in your own community.

Small but consequential things you can do right now: 1. Donate money to an organization that is fighting: defending the vulnerable, preserving data, whatever. 2. Call your electeds. 5calls.org makes this easy. 3. Buy a paid subscription to an independent news source

BREAKING NEWS: Research and basic information on subjects ranging from tuberculosis surveillance to adolescent health disappeared from federal health agency websites.

This is a really important paper for thinking about how language processes work in the brain 👇

🗣️ Language is widely distributed throughout the brain 🧠 In a recent correspondence in @natrevneurosci.bsky.social, we suggest that there is no 'language network' in the brain. What appears as such is an inevitable illusion created in part by the methods we use. www.nature.com/articles/s41...

You may have heard of Questionable Research Practices and "HARKing" as threats to replicability. In a new paper led by @sakshighai.bsky.social, we argue that a similar practices -- Questionable Generalizability Practices and "MASKing" -- undermine generalizability. www.nature.com/articles/s44...
