Like a heartbeat or the phases of the moon, anything that lasts is in a constant lemniscate of change from contraction to expansion, diastole to systole. Thinking of hexagram 32 恆 héng/ duration as Mars stations direct while Venus and Mercury prepare to station retrograde.

Dream incubation goals. Drifting Toward Twilight by Betye Saar.

"Curiosity about the unknown has no boundaries. Symbols, images, place and cultures merge. Time slips away. The stars, the cards, the mystic vigil may hold the answers. By shifting the point of view an inner spirit is released. Free to create." - Betye Saar

Pisces I begins today, corresponding to the Tarot's 8 of Cups. What metaphorical edges are you traversing?

Venus up to her usual.

Apparently when medieval European merchants came across seahorses they thought they were baby dragons. Which makes me want to spend a day as a European merchant thinking, oh yeah if this thing hadn't been caught, who knows how big it would have gotten.

If I had to choose one piece of advice to give someone learning tarot it would be: describe what you see. Talk/write/draw it out. The answers will flow from there.

The rose is a symbol of affection but also protection, inviting close proximity with a beguiling scent, while keeping its distance with a boundary of thorns. Even if you know nothing about planetary-botanical correspondences, you can probably guess that roses are Venusian. 🌹

Full moon in Leo always has me thinking of flowers.

If you are interested in community advocacy and have 1-2 hrs a couple times/wk to spare, consider volunteering as a literacy tutor. There are maaaany adults and children who need this support. Check to see if there's a library near you with a literacy program +

As we traverse the last decan of Aquarius season, we get to know the landscape of the King of Cups, our decanic guide through mid-Pisces season. #Tarotsky ⬇️

This week we travel the last decan of Aquarius, corresponding with the Tarot’s 7 of Swords. #Tarotsky Disharmony is not always a bad thing. The 7 of Swords teaches us that

In readings, I tend not to talk much about the tarot's astrological correspondences, but when I'm pulling apart the layers of a card for my own understanding, tracing a card's root system through the zodiacal decans is always illuminating.

If 10-years-ago-me could see me now I'd be shocked at how much I use spreadsheets.

Studying Tarot requires a certain amount of solitude, as you process the card meanings and observe how they reflect on your life. At some point though, being in community with other tarot readers will push your practice in profound ways. Build community into your practice. #Tarotsky

I love talking about Tarot with people who are seeing it for the first time. Someone I'm working with pulled the 7 of Wands and called it Reforestation, which describes the kind of active defense depicted in the card in a way that centers growth, rather than reactivity.

This poem has me lost for words 💔 It captures how grief viscerally fixes us in the present moment, and how we rely on metaphor to make sense of a world in which we no longer know how to live.

Tarot is a teacher. No matter how long we've been reading, we're always learning from its teachings.

Keeping a dream log has made me realize I spend way too much of my dreamlife trying to operate dysfunctional light switches.
