With how dedicated you are to soulsborn games i doubt anyone with a passing familiarity is surprised. Im certainly not

Id be lying if i said i felt compelled by the gameplay. Good chance its a pass for me

a HARD pass from me and that is why I am not going to bother 100%ing the game and completing the final final test.
This game is a 8/10 for me and while I'm glad I played it and had a fair bit of fun, I doubt I'll play through it again any time soon. SMW is still king.

Constantly dashing forward? Constant jumping? Invisible? No fucking thank you. The only purpose I see for them is for challenge runs, and that is not what I define as fun *and* transformative gameplay. I play games like this for GOOD controls so intentionally making them bad is

Two: I found out that the final final test is a badge gauntlet and I think the badges are really, really bad.
Why is that? Because they range from being so mundane as to be banal, to changing gameplay to be just downright annoying and completely bereft of fun.

One: getting all the flagpole tops is not interesting gameplay and not something I care to replay levels to do. However if not for reason 2 I would have been done it for one final challenge

being relevant, but I really did not care to replay levels just for that if I missed it due to most of them ranging from boring to just alright. So why did I not bother with the final final test? two reasons.

To cover the asterisk I put on the special world, I actually did not do the final final test and I will explain why. I did get all the 10 coins and wonder seeds, but I did not get all the flagpole tops. I had a feeling early on that since they were acknowledged they might end up

of you. occasionally the bubbles from bubble mario helped me out but that was few and far between. most times I just kept fire mario due to how reliable the fireballs constantly are and their ability to hit enemies beneath you is ever useful

them in any particular situation and is most often so because it was the level's powerup of choice, and whenever there was somewhat challenging platforming involved it really did not matter which one you used cuz if there were enemies they are all able to hit directly in front

but without the ability to fly and bubble mario is very similar to cloud mario from SMG2 and the bubble baby yoshis from NSMBU so you'll have to forgive me for not caring much for those powerups especially since, thanks to the non existent difficulty, there's 0 motivation to use

first try. As a spectacle the fight was awesome and I enjoyed on that but man.. would it have been a huge labor for it to be even remotely challenging? I almost got away without taking a single hit. Even the powerups were just kinda mid? Elephant is like the leaf/cape mario

Need I remind you that when I was growing up in the 90s we very much had access to SMB3/World and other games meant for kids but ones that actually challenged us and we managed to beat. I found nothing, not even the special world* challenging in the least and I beat Bowser in my

most of them were marred by simply being way, way too easy. Sure you can say "but the game is meant for kids!!" but to that I say Mario has never not been geared towards kids, but this is like kids with learning deficiencies and the IQ of forrest gump.

However despite my praise, I think the game falls short in so many ways such that it does not come anywhere close to SMB3 or World and I will explain why. The game is just too geared towards little kids and while there were some fun/interesting new gimmicks/mechanics in the game

First off, I am going to say that the game is quite good. New Super Mario Bros fell off after Wii and 2D mario has been mid to bad since then. It's not even that they were bad per se just... samey as hell. Yes NSMB 2 as well. Collecting billions of coins is not cool I'm sorry.

Ig it depends on what one is doing, cuz there's definitely content where if your attention lapses for a second you could just be dead
