There were 51 days between Hitler being named chancellor, and the first prisoner arriving at Dachau. There were 54 days between Trump being sworn in, and the first prisoner being put in a Salvadoran prison without any due process. Right on schedule. encyclopedia.ushmm.org/content/en/a...

Easily the best communicator in the Democratic Party. Listen to the whole thing.

Just thinking about what the US looked like before the EPA existed

👀NEW : 2025🚰 database Grateful for Environmental Working Group scientists! www.ewg.org/tapwater/ And like @realerinbrockovich.bsky.social said, “Superman’s not coming soon.” lead in🚰 compliance rslts:

EPA’s new lead in drinking water regulation (LCRI) gives utilities 3 years to comply. Which means Portland Water Bureau leaders won’t do the right thing . . . until they have to⌛️👎

fyi: PWB engineers have not properly treated corrosive** Bull Run source water for decades, knowingly+by design The result? 📈 plumbing leaks or higher levels of lead in our🚰tapwater In short, Portland Water Bureau has damaged our plumbing and our health. 🙃 **aka soft or acidic water👇

Shared some thoughts about the budget deficit, police resources being used to monitor City Councilors at town halls, community members distributing food, and the history of the police union intimidating electeds who push back www.instagram.com/reel/DG85WR5...

The City of Portland has long argued Zenith Energy's land use credential is a simple administrative decision. Environmental advocates today sued the city, arguing state law requires a "quasi-judicial" process, meaning the public has sufficient notice and opportunity to comment.

“My family was surveilled, stripped of their home, livelihood, and dignity,” City Councilor Tiffany Koyama Lane told Portland police officials during discussions about an FBI anti-terrorism task force. “So my question is, how can we work together to make sure that history like this isn’t repeated?”

BREAKING OVERNIGHT: DC Circuit snubs Trump in legal fight over federal employee watchdog he tried to fire. Panel divides, 2-1, letting stand judge's order restoring Hampton Dellinger to special counsel post. Next stop #SCOTUS? w/@kyledcheney www.politico.com/news/2025/02...

PWB chose THE most expensive treatment option on THE most expensive rural site. Paid for by PDX customers, the massive $2.13B water plant is NOT federally reqd🤔 “There’s not adequate oversight on this project.” — Ap2024, the late Portland environmentalist Bob Sallinger katu.com/news/katu-in...

As Portland's $2B Bull Run water filtration project faces ballooning costs and ongoing delays / opposition, the city is asking state lawmakers for a land-use carveout to squash future appeals. “It’s the city’s nuclear option.” www.oregonlive.com/politics/202...

🚨BREAKING: In a betrayal to Portland residents, the City grants a Land Use Compatibility Statement (LUCS) to Zenith Energy, giving the Texas-based fossil fuel company a green light to expand its operations in PDX. Wednesday we protest. www.breachcollective.org/highlights/p... #StopZenithOil

Long-entrenched City of Portland officials : Former Utility/Interim Administrator Michael Jordan City Attny Robert Taylor 👉DO NOT serve the public

“As youth organizers fighting for climate justice in Portland and beyond, we are committed to holding Zenith and other polluters accountable, and are deeply disappointed with the City of Portland for ignoring calls for investigation…” - @sunrisepdx.bsky.social

Robert Taylor is up on the agenda for his job. www.portland.gov/council/docu... So a quick search…

The city council’s agenda next Wed. is mainly to consider approving Michael Jordan as city administrator and Robert Taylor as city attorney, which would basically just retain Ted Wheeler’s preferred administrators. I hope there’s a lively debate over their records.

icymi, City of #Portland OR officials play dirty, to keep the public in the dark and unengaged.😑

City of Portland & PWB Water officials willfully ignored both : “No family should ever have to choose between drinking water that is safe and being able to pay their water bill.” www.nrdc.org/bio/erik-d-o...

As expected, the Trump team is already deleting climate info from government websites. In anticipation, our team at Urban Ocean Lab created a permanent archive of 100+ key resources and published a permanent archive: www.urbanoceanlab.org/resource-hub 👩🏽‍💻

At the Zenith Energy work session at city council. I'll be putting thoughts in this thread throughout the day. First thing to say is that President Trump issued an unhinged energy order that colors this meeting. Also, Zenith & city staff presentations up on the website (plus video embedded).
