Forever, Portland+OR officials misled, “Convincing the Public Drinking Water is Safe”(PWB)👉even as it wasn’t

Providing FREE 🚰 FILTERS to customers is now a regulatory reqmt (and the right thing to do) for cities with ongoing levels 👉 like Portland.
Egregiously, Officials here refuse to own their silent water crises, & failure to act.
At least data doesn’t lie :

“That’s yesterday’s news”,
is exactly what Water Bureau staff and officials say to (try to) get independent experts and drinking water advocates to go away…🤔.
(while scrambling to fix PWB’s egregious mistakes)
Data doesn’t lie.

Sadly, we can’t take PWB leaders’ words at face value,
Officials here have willfully misled (and disinformed) customers for years. Your example above is just one specious example.
Independent experts and data don’t lie.

“the lead problem” is/has been PWB’s for decades…but,
unlike other western region cities - who significantly reduced lead at taps yrs ago -
Portland officials refused to own their chronic, silent crises.

Another edit:
PWB used loopholes in fed regulations and got away with “improperly treating municipal water” … for decades.
And for decades, Oregon Health Authorities let PWB off the hook, compromising public health.

Not misquoted and not NIMBY
Did you attend the meetings when utility board member Sallinger *rightly* called out PWB leaders for faux public engagement & general lack of transparency?
Worse, a history of other willful neglect by PWBs so-called “water quality experts”👇

how it’s going:
“This is a just a shell game by the [Portland] Water Bureau.”

Your post is inaccurate.
We’ve followed PWB’s (flawed/willful/$$$) decision-making “for low-lvl crypto” since 2017.
Blame belongs to Cm Fish, Fritz, Mapps & PWB Dirs who mismanaged this project BIG TIME, raising the project costs 6-fold.

Similar, but not the same!
"transforming the dynamic between police and the people we serve"
does not equal
"more transparency and accountability"
and, in fact, leaving out those words makes it seem like transparency and accountability are not even priorities.

These 2 have shown their true colors for years, betraying the public good (they never served), over & over.
No go!👇

If the council just rubber stamps these appointments, we’re going to have DCAs jealously lording over the bureaus trying to stop city councilors from directly talking to the staff who have direct knowledge about how the city works.
It will be a nightmare for transparency & accountability.

Unfortunate nomination!
Jordan - who attended Portland Utility Board mtgs as Sewer Dir - said (and did) nothing
when advocates raised 🚩🚩alarms on harmful lead in🚰…
that Portland Water Bureau willfully failed to control (their legal & ethical responsibility).

Apparently the city JUST ISSUED a permit for Zenith's illegal construction from 2021? What the hell is going on in this city?
