I have argued this. It’s like compound grief.

I needed this today. #amwriting

Weekend plans. ✔️

The dream…

Happy National Protest Day!

Read, share, and gift banned books. pen.org/banned-books...

The old me would never do this, but nothing makes sense now…🤷🏾‍♀️ #booksky

I was asked about my writing in The Atlantic interview and I shared that I feel fortunate to have so much unencumbered time to write. And…I don’t think I’d have had the tenacity to deal with the rejection in my youth. There’s no perfect age to write. Hats off to anyone doing the work. #amquerying

Eek! Just did an interview with The Atlantic where I talked about “Joy over 50!” #writersky

“If you want to share a vision or tell the truth-you pick up your pen and take your chances. This is not after all tennis where sets can be measured by points… or football or games run on time …it is life open-ended…And once the play has begun, the book made… time is the only judge.” Nikki Giovanni

“Outside of work, I run a book club called Amber’s Book Club. I think—especially in the industry I’m in—that people don’t talk enough about books…The motto is ‘Reading is a flex.’ “ intothegloss.com/2025/01/ambe... #booksky

Happy Black History Month! This was such an honor. 🥹

Why do books matter so much? Because books can open eyes & hearts & minds. They can show us the world in a different light, helping us imagine other lives. Books can connect us, bringing us together, building bridges in a world of walls. They are the greatest empathy engines ever invented. #BookSky

I’m sad to learn that my law school classmate, Kiah Duggins, died in the DC plane crash last night. Kiah was an exceptionally talented civil rights lawyer and aspiring legal scholar. I hope you’ll read about her work and the causes she cared about, some of which I’ll 🧵 below. What an immense loss

www.themaker.com/the-writer I must stay here during my next visit. 🫶🏾

Finishing an entire manuscript. Even if it never sees the light of day- I did it, and I’ll do it again! P.S. But I hope it does. 🥹

GoFundMe is going to MATCH all donations to this fundraiser up to $250,000 Letz go,!! 🙏🏾

Lucy Kaylin just watched my IG story about my essay in Midlife Private Parts! I think I need to go lie down. 😅 #writersky

Remember: Books are important. YOUR books are important. YOU are important. The work of authors and artists is potentially the greatest weapon we have against fascism. (They know it, too - why else would they try so hard to ban books, restrict access to libraries, and on and on?)

This is great advice. Honestly, my rejections have been kind and encouraging. One so much so, that I reread it every time I feel the doubt creeping in.

One writing goal down. ✔️ Now if only I could find an agent for my debut novel.

Excited to be a contributor. Spoiler alert- my little essay is about reinvention. ❤️https://www.simonandschuster.com/books/Midlife-Private-Parts/Dina-Alvarez/9798888459348

Midlife Private Parts is named one of the most anticipated books by Zibby Owens. So excited to have my essay featured in this anthology. It’s available for preorder! www.zibbyowens.com/p/my-most-an...

Adding this to my list immediately!

If you don’t want to read Edgar Allan Poe together by the fireplace whilst sharing a plate of midnight macarons in an abandoned château in the French countryside during a full moon on a cold winter’s night, then please don’t tell me you’re “down for a good time”.
