new post(s)! I talk A24's DEATH OF A UNICORN, it's message and how it achieves its approach to class satire. Substack: open.substack.com/pub/thesilve... We Scream Together: wescreamtogether.wordpress.com/2025/04/03/0...

everything from its premise, it’s brutality, the message of the film, Skarsgard and Hopkins are great in this, a HEALTH TRACK IN THE END CREDITS? LOCKED was a damn good thriller, can’t wait to catch this again.

I wrote about my kind, funny childhood friend Michelle Trachtenberg, and the group of friends that saved my life when I was a kid. www.vulture.com/article/mara...

Caught Mark Anthony Green’s OPUS! An unsettling tale that doesn’t shy away from some gore and disturbing imagery and it’s a fun time in bits. Rodgers & The-Dream’s soundtrack was cool. Need more Ayo in horror projects!

Heading to SXSW on Friday for the premier of Sweetness. This movie is amazing (think Misery meets Jawbreaker). But what i'd love to know for my bluesky friends is... any great Austin food recs?

I’m writing something new and I’m excited. I’m in my favourite phase which is the “before the writing” phase. Filling up a notebook with ideas, doing interviews and basically just staring out the window doing the thing that I got in trouble for in high school - “day dreaming”. This is the fun part.

MICKEY 17 is a damn masterpiece. It’s big, it’s a blast. laughed just as much as I teared up and while it’s message is familiar Bong Joon-ho’s unique vision conveys it in a strong and dark comedic way. Third Act is incredible. Cast is great all around but Pattinson and Ackie are fantastic!

Didn’t realize this year’s THE AMATEUR is a re-adaptation of a 1981 novel of the same name. Had a film that year too with Christopher Plummer and it’s on Disney+ 👀

some just don’t go.

*watches RED ROOMS* “Oh wow this is getting intense” *Rina Sawayama’s This Hell starts playing*

HEART EYES and BRAVE NEW WORLD have the same “CinemaScore” and the narratives on both are extremely different. this is why I don’t lean on ratings over reviews. Both are good films by the way!

My new film #TheGorge is now available on AppleTV+ It’s a romantic sci-fi action horror political spy thriller. A perfect date movie for tonight or any night over this Valentine’s Day weekend. Hope you enjoy!

CHOPPING MALL being a cult classic just makes so much sense, a niche slasher but it feels so grand. first time watch tonight and everything from the set design, the look of the robots and the kills were handled with so much care. love Chuck Cirino’s score for this.

30 years ago today we saw THE QUICK AND THE DEAD together in the theater and just marveled at Sam Raimi's direction. And now, just a few decades of hard work later... he's directing one of our scripts. Don't give up on your dreams, writers. They can come true.

This was great all across the board! A tale of two shepherding families pitted by one bad move. Tense, brutal and Act 2 changes the narrative almost entirely. Loved Keoghan in this and my love for Abbot as a talent grows with every flick. Christopher Andrews directed the hell out of this.

really loving AMC’s A-List service, have the day off and catching a showing of BRING THEM DOWN. going in mostly blind, I just know it’s a revenge thriller-drama with Christopher Abbot and Barry Keoghan. 😅

More and more every year it’s proven why Tom Brady is THE GOAT and it’s not even close. I don’t think Brady’s ever had a SUPER BOWL performance that bad as a QB ever. That’s why he’s #1 in the books.

"I want to perform their favorite song, but you know they love to sue" - Kendrick Lamar

finishing a pilot this morning (procrastination is real), have a V-Day related write up I’m mapping out and somehow have to find time to finish this Captain America write-up 😂😂😂 I love being a writer

watching DEVOUR (2005) and it has the most early 2000s opening credits I’ve ever seen for a horror movie lol (this is a positive)

love what Josh Reuben and the team did with #HeartEyes. It’s exactly what I wanted, fun horror comedy with a Rom-Com at its center and Gooding and Holt are great together. It’s hilarious and oh so bloody. Loved the police station sequence! Go see it!

Treat yourself and someone you love to Heart Eyes this weekend! It’s a bloody blast! www.fangoria.com/review-heart... #HeartEyes

“My gold standard, my north star, was Tommy McLoughlin’s Jason Lives,” director Josh Ruben said of HEART EYES in an interview about the slasher's blend of horror and heart:

matinee turned into a night showing with the family, yeah horror is back.

Catching a matinee for #HeartEyes in a bit.

#musicsky pay attention to what Sasami is doing right now, i have NOT been able to get any of these out of my head.

Did not mind this at all. For sure, it feels a little rushed in the last 20-minutes but that’s every movie in this series. Eubanks and Landon find a way to breathe new life into the franchise, bringing in a folklore angle that mostly worked for me. Major BLAIR WITCH + OUTLAST vibes here.

the introduction to the Cyclops story in STOPMOTION hitting immediately just gets you so excited for what’s to come. that is such great writing 😭.

thought the Zucheros’s LOVE ME had a nice message about what it means to be human told through a slightly experimental lens, the use of the internet and it’s influence what it says about Earth after it’s extinction was a nice touch. Stewart and Yeun are really good together. Really dug this one

The first trailer for ‘THE FANTASTIC FOUR: FIRST STEPS’ has been released for Christmas. In theaters on July 25, 2025. youtu.be/AzMo-FgRp64?...

Horror is a transgressive, punk rock genre that is at times VERY political. And a large component of our audience and community is very, very queer. You don't have to share our politics to enjoy horror, but you sure as shit should share the ideals that everyone has a right to exist if you make it.

Listen to David. David knew what the fuck was up.

don’t have strong feelings for the TERRIFIER series, but jumping to not piss off the #otherside in a genre that has been political since it’s inception is maybe not the way to go in this current climate? especially when your two stars have been vocal with their platform…

Oh wow this sounds incredible, I’ve been missing Zhao’s work on a big scale like this (I loved ETERNALS and NOMADLAND is fire)

Got to introduce B to IMMACULATE this weekend & decided I wanted to write about it so I did. Please give it a read if you’re so inclined: open.substack.com/pub/thehorro... #horrorsky

I’d love to point out that there have only been two FINAL DESTINATION films that have used red in their promotional material. Coincidence? Yeah probably, but it’s something neat either way. #FinalDestinationBloodlines #horrortok

Death runs in the family in the new poster and teaser for FINAL DESTINATION: BLOODLINES- bloody-disgusting.com/movie/385318...

FINAL DESTINATION: BLOODLINES might be my first trailer write-up. I’ve had so many places where I think this story will go. Cannot believe we’re finally getting this.

I WANT to try a script with the “write itself” approach, I honestly think I’d be great at it but having the entire story mapped out, what the message of your story will be along with its themes, the characters and their descriptions, lore, etc just feels so rewarding when you start the first draft.

Gosling and Beyoncé are true artists for this 😭😂
