Why doesn't KitchenAid make the latches on their tilt-head mixers more latch-y? If you're mixing more than the slackest of doughs, that thing starts bobbing like a headbanger at a Slayer show.

Our blind, deaf, dementia-suffering old lady doesn't have a large world, but she gets so happy after eating her dinner. We rescued her from the pound at the beginning of the year, and had our doubts about her making it this long. But with love and care she has shown us she's a survivor.

Sauce hack: If you like Carolina Gold barbecue sauce, but wish it were spicier, get a bottle of Lottie's yellow hot sauce. Mixing a bit in will give you the spice you want without changing the flavor profile like some other hot sauces will.
