It's pretty fun and good it just gets hate because it's constantly compared to the insanely stiff unreasonable competition from Rockstar or the jedi games which are way different and more focused linear experiences I'd argue are a bit too different for reasonable comparison

i mean yeah conceptually when it was made it was made to be a simple space fantasy adventure movie with western elements very definitive good and evil
comment in response to post
i mean it's not that surprising you see the stuff they did in the prequel trilogy it was pretty exclusively monk meditation stuff, diplomacy stuff and fighting martial arts stuff the ONLY one shown to not be in one of those groups is the librarian who keeps all jedi knowledge and teachings safe
comment in response to post
its cuz the jedi are a monk religous organization of peacekeepers naturally their combat and ideals would all be fairly similar just focused on different aspects of the martial training, zen budhist force one-ness and peaceful diplomatic peacekeeper areas

(note: Star Wars was originally made as an allegory of the Vietnam war... the USA was always the Empire)

I guess this is like that part in Star Wars where there technically still is a Senate but the evil emperor is out blowing up planets because he feels like it. Frankly embarrassing for the USA that this simplistic sci-fantasy tale of space wizards is the level of subtlety you are at as a society.

Just like a lot of that eras characters after anakin commits war crimes and says some crazy shit or even Just does something kind of fucked up lol

i love how genuine he feels here that and i always wonder how ahsoka looks back on this after discovering anakin is vader showing he was actually right about anakin being groomed to be a sith lord

still makes fuck tons of money and rakes in huge audiences but because "hardcore true" sw fans hate the new writing its dead

He calls him "Young Skywalker" because it doesn't matter how many years Luke puts on, Yoda will always see him as that impulsive little knucklehead who came tumbling into his swamp

i feel like at most maybe having the smoke around her form vaguely human silhouettes couldve been cool like their energy is there but not their actual soul/person

i tried for like 8 years but i cannot deal with another second of last jedi discourse i am so sick of having to explain myself for liking a damn movie
comment in response to post
dont get me wrong there were people upset about the first stuff but i think a majority of the hate among even more reasonable people came from the 2nd camp of criticizing and de-glorifing the old stuff nostalgia and such getting challenged hurts peoples feelings
comment in response to post
not me, sick of the damn fandom being toxic
comment in response to post
fr anyways in this household we love last jedi and fandom menace can fuck off

Kind of feels like we’re heading towards that moment in Andor where the empire have a sniper shoot one of their own, just to give justfication for the stormtroopers to start mowing down protesters.

Pretty sure they said they wouldn't do one

Yeah I love the more corrupt hypocrisy of the republic in the clone wars and seeing the public slowly come to fear the jedi in it
comment in response to post
Even then it feels like they say it's corrupt but it's mostly just pinnable on Palpatine You don't see as much of the jedi and republic corruption until clone wars tbh
comment in response to post
I feel like this would never happen because usually in main trilogies movie stuff the sides have to be much more definitively good vs evil Characters may make stray comments about hypocrisy but beyond that they never outright portray the good guys as very Grey That's what expanded material is for
