yeah, "blue sky", "hot dog", "fire drill", "real estate" are all one word when stress is on the first part, and adj+n when stress is on the second part
reminds me of:
récord (n), recórd (v)
íncrease (n), incréase (v)
ímport (n), impórt (v)
etc.
the way English uses stress is so very cool

English generally gives stress to the first part of a compound word. but in Spanish, stress generally goes to the second part. so my mom will usually say "hot dóg", "ice cúbe", "fire éxit", etc.
en conclusión, es "bluscái"

oops yes i meant "det", not "dat"
i was looking to translate "it was difficult". i originally used "im", but didn't know if it would be idiomatic to use for "im" to refer to something abstract like my process in translating a sentence.

I actually love the false cognate of fok described in the Reddit post b/c it's parallel to English fuck ("fok yu won?" = "fuck do you want?"), but it's analyzed in a different way (to say that "fok" is just a question word). i don't often find examples of "mock linguistics" like that

hmm perfect, i try to be very careful to not push assumptions from other languages. the Reddit post discusses "fok" and "shit" but I didn't feel confident enough in my understanding of them to remove them from the specific context of the translations I had.

the Reddit post says "ai" is "I", and then I see "ai ein git" translates to "I don't understand", and "ai'n git" translates to "I don't know". so I understand "ai", "ein", "git", and that ai + ein = ai'n
