Just gonna underscore @katharinehayhoe.com's point here. Nobody setting the pace and scale of the energy transition in 2025 is waiting on leadership from a multinational oil company, and it's not the least surprising that BP's shareholders would rather see the company focus on near-term profit

The first spring training games are a bonanza for inventive new baseball player names

Here is the whole comic for your enjoyment. Shower @katebeaton.bsky.social with your praise and disposable income

I’ve been chuckling to myself over this panel from a comic by national treasure Kate Beaton all morning

To! Be! Fair!

Movies you've watched more than six times, gifs only

And the nature of that phase? Imagine waiting on an MS Word document shared in the browser app to finish loading all the track changes … forever

A case study in mismanaging rights like they gain in value by hoarding them. My kids’ generation know almost nothing of the classic Warner Bros cartoons for similarly misguided reasons

"A fondness for regal themes" is a new high-water mark for the Times on this front, very sorry you've been rendered redundant @nytpitchbot.bsky.social

The NY Times could really put a little effort into some consistency on this stuff

There are a million things to criticize and snark over in a project this size. There’s already a shelf in Ottawa filled with abandoned plans. I hear you all and I don’t care—ANY news of real money going into high-speed rail in this country is good news in my books www.cbc.ca/news/politic...

Because Canadians are generally much better at comedy than Joe Rogan is, we appreciate the irony here

Hard to encapsulate a politician's whole worldview in a signature on a certificate, but this comes pretty close

Oh hey it’s Peter Baker of the Times, master of those “in this Ohio diner” reports that eagerly enabled the rise of fascism in the US, treating Canadian sovereignty with similar glibness

I moved from Alberta to Ontario in my 2nd year of high school and my acid wash jeans went from super trendy to totally out of style overnight. Had to keep wearing em for awhile because they were all I had but I knew they were destined for the trash. This is a metaphor, Rupa, learn from it

Always like to post charts like this about Germany's Energiewende whenever they pop up because I've been reporting on it for 20 years and have heard regularly throughout that it wasn't happening, couldn't happen, would fail, had failed, would ruin their economy, would collapse their grids...

Excellent reality check here for anyone who thinks the Trump administration can change the prevailing winds of the energy transition very much -- those winds get their speed and intensity from China, not Washington

Four days it took her to say anything. And then she says … she will do nothing.  Not good enough. Her own office is implicated. The investigation can’t be delivered to the people being investigated. How dumb does she think Albertans are? /1

The premier’s official statements are Twitter-only now and she had nothing to do with the actions of the executive and board she appointed. Tidy business Premier Smith, sorry to bother you with this

That Rufo guy has certainly been making a strong case lately

Welcome update on a truly innovative homegrown Calgary company — built by oil-patch vets no less — whose clean energy has been actively blocked from Alberta’s grids by the UCP government’s nostalgic energy policies

Canada’s Fentanyl Czar

The hell is up with this framing? Canada's UN ambassador defends the country against ludicrous tariffs, and the crux of the story is a couple of Trump loyalists spouting off on the social media network owned by the guy currently running amok through the private files of the US government?

However this turns out, I do hope voters will remember which leaders were revealed as quivering invertebrates before the battle even started

This is basically the plot of Solomon Gursky Was Here, yessir

There’s not a lot of upside to this senseless trade war, but @maxfawcett.bsky.social does a good job here pointing is some encouraging directions at least

This passage will be instantly familiar to many Canadians as the basis for the third verse of the Tragically Hip's "Courage." The full Maclennan quote seems to resonate in a lot of ways this weekend
