Do not understand why we aren’t discussing the economic impact of terminating thousands of government employees

Rural mail delivery is what powered the emergence of national consumer markets, manufacturers, and retailers c1900. (Think: Sears etc.) Without it, the U.S. is just a bunch of loosely connected regions. USPS helps bind the nation.

But of course!

Eater is more aware of the moment and cares more about its community than college presidents who’ve issued zero guidance.

We now interrupt your doom-scrolling to remind you: -you are still here -you still matter -there is still hope -there are still things you can do -there are still ways you can show up -the fight is long from over -don't feel bad for resting -take a breath, take a break -we still have each other

My hottest of takes is that IDs don't need gender markers of any kind on them.

For control, because the one thing that scares them shitless is our collective power when we decide to use it.

While you may be awash in national news, I humbly offer a Kentucky-specific story A Kentucky bill would cut back enforcement of state worker protections to federal minimums. It’s part of a history of bills designed to put fewer restrictions on employers www.lpm.org/news/2025-02...

I've read most of the analyses of the DOGE 2025 "receipts" site. This, from NPR, is the best I've read so far. Some of what they claim to have cut haven't been cut, other "cuts" will incur costs down the road. NPR says DOGE has made $2B of cuts, not $55B. www.npr.org/2025/02/19/n...

The main reason to remember that the fascist is UNPOPULAR is to shift how you think about antifascism. Get off your back foot. Lean forward. Other people are seeing what you are too.

WaPo/Ipsos poll: 57 percent of respondents say Trump has exceeded his authority since taking office. More than 8 in 10 say he should follow court rulings. That includes more than 9 in 10 Democrats along with roughly 8 in 10 Republicans and independents.

Well this whole plot makes a lot more sense in our current context.
